Sad Posting Today

It is with a heavy heart that our cousin's Charlie and Chau lost their beautiful dog Chase yesterday. He apparently got out of the house and the yard and was tragically struck by a car. Chase was such a loveable dog who was so happy to be petted and snuggled. Below is a picture taken a few years ago when we were all at the dog park in the winter. He was having such fun chasing the other doggies. He lived up to his name PERFECTLY.
This is a picture of Nolie and Chase at the top of Mount Mainsfield in Stowe, VT. Both of these dogs climbed the mountain from the base all the way to the summit. Chase gave us a run for our money though, leaving the group and leading us on an expedition to find him. After 2 hours of "chasing" him down, we found him at the mountain cabin just chillin' out.
We are so sorry to lose this beautiful dog. Here's a poem that I believe fits our lives with animals perfectly:

Fragile Circle

We, who choose to surround ourselves with lives
even more temporary than our own,
live within a fragile circle,
easily and often breached.Unable to accept its awful gaps,
we still would live no other way. We cherish memory
as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan.

Oh my! It has GOT to be so hard to loose a beloved pet this way. Like my mother would say when we were kids, the dog is now in doggie heaven.

Posting Anonymous because I forgot my password, but I wanted to post:

Sooo very sorry about the loss of your baby...He is so beautiful.

I believe this poem is appropriate also. I don't know the author:

The Broken Chain

We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name,
In life we loved you dearly,in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone.
For part of us went with you, the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,
And though we cannot see you, you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

Please know there are many of us that understand your sorrow....

THANK YOU for all the support and love. You are right, nothing is able to prepare us for such tragedy. Although we envisioned it to be possible, it didn't protect us from sadness that must follow the loss of a well loved (and psychotic) pet.

Maria and Cindy: Thank you for the beautiful eulogy (and for another episode of tears!). Everyone should have a Maria and Cindy to help them through these times. As for Racer and Taylor, they are coping with the loss of their charismatic leader in their own ways, but primarily by moping. Thank you for the love, kindness, sympathy; now, we can only reciprocate and disperse such understanding.

Hi Maria, I'm so sad to hear this and it brings memories of my Shado. She was so precious and beautiful. I cannot imagine life without animals, and sadly the way we are carrying on there might be none left one day.
