The mason jar......

Well, I've been spying this mason jar at Michael's for quite a while......I've picked it up, put it down, picked it up, put it down.........but last week........stamps were 40% off....plus I had a 20% off entire purchase coupon...so.......I had to finally put it in my basket.   I HAD been spying PTI's set with the die cut...but didn't make the jump - so....I bought this Inkadinkado one.

I had a great idea, put it into action, and things were going great.....until the last step..........here's the card before I go any further:

First I stamped the image on white cardstock. Colored the bottom of it with light blue to have the appearance of water.  Then I stamped it on a piece of acetate with Stazon and cut it out so it appears to be 'glass'.   I stamped out some Hero Arts flowers, colored them with prismas and then arranged them on the brown layer.

Now.....here's where things got messy.  Adhering the acetate to the cardstock.  I used a liquid glue or maybe even glossy accents, I can't remember.....but, it looks pretty bad.  You can see the line where the glue dried inside the jar.  BooooooooHoooooooo

For those who use acetate.....how do you adhere it down so it looks nice?

The card won't be junked because it's not as horrible as I'm making it out to be, but my anal retentive nature is not 100% pleased with it.  Any tips you could give me if you've used acetate like this would be appreciated!!!!!!!

Thanks!!!!!

Thanks for your visit!

That's so funny, I have put that exact stamp in my cart at Michael's more times that I can count and I still don't have it! Same thing with the Hero Arts crossword puzzle one.

I think this turned out very nice though, I love all the dimension. Not sure how to adhere acetate on something like this. I only use acetate if I am going to have a frame of some sort around the image so that my adhesive is actually on the frame and then that anchors the acetate. If you find the answer let us know!

Love this, I think it came out just perfect and I don't see any glue lines, you may because you know where to look. Awesome idea to use the acetate to look like glass.

I think this is awesome Maria - I love the dimension you achieved here! Wish I had an answer for the acetate but I don't usually work with it.

Ooohhh, I LOVE this! I can't see the glue line in the photo - don't be too hard on yourself. I love the dimension on the flowers.

I think your card is just gorgeous, Maria! I never would have noticed the glue line. Love that you added the acetate layer. Makes it look so realistic. Awesome flowers, too.
One trick I use with this stuff is to adhere only in an area that won't show, like under your ribbon, here. You could actually staple it down, and then hide it under the ribbon. Yes, it's not glued down everywhere, but it won't go anywhere, and that's what matters. :)
