It's a Baby Shower!!!

This post is way overdue, but I needed to find the time to upload everything!!  Last month, a few neighborhood ladies threw another neighbor, Christine, a Baby Shower.  She's due ANY DAY!!

I offered to make the invitations for the shower and then we made some shower gifts and tags for the event.   So sit back......there's a lot to show!!

Here's the outside of the invitation - kept pretty simple as I had to make 30 of them.  I used a Cuttlebug embossing die, Studio G onside stamp and PTI sentiment.  Christine is having a boy - so all is blue!
Inside I wrote up the details in Word and then layered it (easy!)

Here's the wonderful diaper cake Dolores, who hosted, made for the baby

And here's the terrific poem she created and had me craft up

Dolores and I covered some Hersey bars for shower gifts for the attendees

And this was a fun idea one of the ladies had. We each had to bring a baby boy outfit.  (Christine has two girls already) and we hung the outfits on a clothesline inside.  We also all contributed and got her a bunch of toys geared for boys (you can see them under the line)

This is not a great picture - but look at Christine's face (gal with purse). I'd say she was surprised!!

Here's a yummy cake Marion made

Mama-to-be Christine:

And here's a picture of the set of Thank You cards I gave Christine at the shower too:

Finally, here's a custom made Onsie - for dad-to-be Chris, who is running for Congress!

It was a fun shower and Christine had a really great time.  We're looking forward for Baby Boy to get into this world!!!

Thanks for your visit!

JUGS127-Faux Embossing!

Have you missed me?  Wow - I'm quite behind in blogging and blog visits!  But, I've managed to make a few cards the past few days - now to get them posted before the challenge dates are up!!!

I'm getting in under the wire for the Just Us GirlS challenge # 127 - which is Faux Embossing.  I hadn't heard of this technique and it was pretty easy - so I knew I'd be able to participate.

I was in need of a baby card, so I decided to use my Sizzix star die.  I die cut 7 stars and laid out 6 of them on the same color cardstock (this creates the faux embossing).  I used two different PTI sentiments to create my sentiment and placed it over my ribbon.   I kept the card pretty simple because I wanted the faux embossing to show!

I'm pretty late for this challenge, but here's the info on it anyways:

I've got to write up a few more posts and then I'll be around to make my overdue blogging visits!!!

Thanks for your visit!

JUGS#118-Congratulations!

This week's challenge on the Just Us Girls site is a sketch challenge.  I had some crafty time over the weekend and was able to put this card together for my friend and neighbor who's expecting a boy at the end of March.    I had fun coloring up this Stamping Bella image with my prismas:

I pulled out some of my vintage paper (and by vintage I mean I've had it for about 4 years!!!)  LOL

Here's the sketch I followed:

So......if you want to end this post on a happy note....I will tell you to stop reading NOW!!

Don't say I didn't warn you...................

Yesterday was a tough day.  Pinky - the deaf dog I fostered over the summer was put to sleep.  We were told that her food aggression was too escalated to be worked on and another rescue was not an option.  I HATE times like this, but I have to believe she's running free and a better place then Connecticut and I'm glad she came into my life and I had an effect on hers for a bit.

Here are some of my favorite pictures of Ms. Pinky:

Tomorrow I promise I won't be Debbie Downer.

Bellarific Friday!!! I'm back :)

Horray!!!!  I actually had time this week to participate in the Bellarific Friday Challenge of paper piecing!!
It's been QUITE A FEW WEEKS since I was able to submit a card.  After looking through my Stamping Bella images....I actually don't own a lot that can be paper pieced.

I had to go with this baby image, even though I don't even need a baby card.  So, this card is FOR SALE if anyone out there is interested!!

I've had this stash of Memory Box paper for a long while after receiving it as a freebie at my local stamp store.  I love it...but it was way in the back of my stock. I'm so  happy I used it for this card.   After gluing the paper down, I colored in some shadowing with my prisma pencils.

I also used a great reminder tip from Susan at Simplicity about coloring your clear gems with Sharpies.  I have a bunch of Sharpies, so this worked perfectly to match my card.

I used the My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club sketch #23 for my layout, which was perfect since I had already cut the image out using my Nesties oval :)

Hope your Friday goes well and you're looking forward to a great weekend!!!  We are grilling pizza tonight.........and yes...........a Nutella/banana pizza is on the menu for dessert!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your visit!

Baby Cards

My neighbor Melissa, so sweetly asked me to make her some 'mother-to-be' cards for a few friends who are expecting.

Back when I made these in the middle of May....I knew I followed some sort of challenge....but now, almost a month later..........who knows......and really.........does anyone care?? lol

Melissa gave me free reign over design.  She wanted them to be unisex, except for one card who she knew the baby was going to be a boy.

I used my Stamping Bella baby carriage stamp and colored with prisma pencils.   I used my Studio G sentiment and some baby paper I had in 'stock'.  Some brads, some pearls, some bling, some ribbon....and the cards were complete!!!

Hope you're having a great day!!!

Thanks for your visit!

Jim - I gave you the day off yesterday...I'm only shouting out to you until Friday :)  GET UP!!!

I'm still here!!!

I can NOT believe it is Thursday!!!  This week has just flown by already!  I have found some time in my craft room, but getting these posts up is a different story!

So.....in light of that.......here's a really quick post of some CAS baby cards I made at some point last week - or the week before!!!

I stamped the Studio G onsie on patterned paper and used PTI's "Signature Greetings" for the sentiment. Oh yeah - and a little bling!

Thanks for your visit!

Baby Casting Decoupage

I was asked by one of the gals at the CT Humane Society to make something to showcase her new baby's foot and hand casting.  I had never seen this type of casting before, but OMG - they are so adorable! What a great way to stop that moment in time, huh???

Well, this is what I came up with:

I bought a wood box from Joann's and then covered it with paper from Stemma with decoupage.  I used a few border punches around the edges and on the corners.  I used a corner punch for the four corners and added some bling on each.

I cut out her name with my Sizzlet "curly girl" dies and then glued the castings on with E600 glue.  I didn't take a picture from the other sides, but two of the ends have hand prints and the other two have footprints.

I'm pleased with the result! I will be bringing this up to Tania today - so hopefully she'll be happy with it too!
Thanks for stopping by today!!

Baby Congratulations

I'm back with another Baby Buttercup image by Stamping Bella I colored up last Wednesday. This card is for another CT Humane Society employee!  Tania had her baby girl about 2-3 months ago and just recently returned back to work. I found some really cute outfits at Carter's, so I wanted to get them for her baby.

For this card, I used the Mojo Monday Sketch#144. Baby Buttercup is colored with prisma pencils and blended with gamsol. I used paper from Stemma, a Nesties die cut, cut in 1/2 and added a Papertrey Ink sentiment. I embossed a cuttlebug embossing folder and did some fun ribbon layering, but realized after it was glued down, that my image covered up 90% of it!!! Oh well!  Lastly, I added a few paper roses I had in my stash!

On to to other news! The article that I was interviewed for a few months back was published. You can see it here: CT Humane Society Volunteering.  Cindy and I are both in one of the pictures washing Lola.

And....we had a WONDERFUL visit with Tango, Barnaby Jones, Sarah and Brooke on Sunday! Here are a few shots of the gang:
