Hanna Montana Altered Tin

Well, one of my good friend's daughter turned eleven years old today. One of her favorite TV idols is Hanna Montana! So what better gift than a homemade altered paint can!

The altered cans are not a new concept for Maria and I. We used to sell them at a local church fair until the novelty wore off or perhaps we were tired of people asking us "how did you get the paint out the cans so well to be able to decorate them?" Needless to say we sell different items now.
Regardless, the cans are awesome to give children especially when you can personalize them with their name, or favorite idols, animals, or whatever. In this case, I filled the can with a cute little watch and lots of singles!

The concept of recycling the cans is awesome but I don't think Maria or I have the time or energy to spend scrubbing out paint cans! You can purchase cans at your local paint stores or at home depot for a few dollars.

The cans are quite easy to decorate. The base on this particular can is purple card stock. I used "mod podge" to decoupage the paper onto the can. Though I wish I had the ability to draw Hanna Montana, I don't so I had to purchase a card and cut it so that I could have her image on the can. I embellished the sides of the can with some "bling" sticker hearts and flowers. Once everything was set, I decoupaged over everything to make sure it had a nice seal. The handle has over 100 pieces of ribbon tied around it! The lid has a purple and pink card stock base with mod podge and I embellished it with some birthday charms!

Last but not least, I made the birthday girl a card using a stamp I received in a class at Stamping Bella with Paulabella! This stamp is called Meredith the teacup girl....she is sooooo cute. I colored her with prismacolor pencils and gamol and mounted it on some awesome card stock that I got at a local card store that was going out of business!

I'm new at the coloring but Paula taught me so much that I'm confident with a lot of practice my cards might start to look like like hers! LOL! I wish!

Well, Thanks for stopping by!
