STB#7 - Happy Birthday

I'll admit - I'm not sure how I feel about this card.  I don't really love how my butterfly goes with the patterned paper -but I'm posting it anyways!

This layout & challenge is for the Seize The Birthday#7.  Here's the sketch:

2013 Art Journal - You're never too old...

How was your weekend? Hopefully filled with fun stuff! This past week I worked on another Journal page and I have to say..............this time I'm THRILLED with the outcome!!!!!!!!  I definitely channeled some Donna Downey with this page.  I LOVE how vibrant it is!

I really had a lot of fun creating this page. I started by plopping down three colors on the left hand side of the page and then dragging it over to the right with an acetate sheet. Once dry - I painted the tree and branches - then channeled Christy Tomlinson and randomly cut leaves from my American Crafts stash and decoupaged then on. I added Outline Rubber Stamps grass and Hero Arts flower and used a combination of Faber-Castell Big Brush markers and paint to color them in.  Lastly - I took a Verve sentiment and PRAYED really hard that I'd get a great impression and not mess up the whole page!! LOL

I'm going to enter this page in the Stampotique Designer's Challenge# 81 and the Hero Arts "Try Something New" January Challenge

So, after finishing THIS page - my hopes for the journal are a bit higher than my first page - but there could be a fall from grace! :)

Have a great Monday!!!!!!

Wishing you......

Here's another "Wishing You..." card I made last week.  This time using a Penny Black image and Distress Markers.

I kept the card quite simple but added some nice glitter to the flower.  Here's a close up:

So.........if Hurricane Sandy didn't take me away from blogland enough........I'm now taking a short break. I have some posts set up during this absence and I'll do my best for visits when I come back.  Sorry if any of my Bloggy friends are feeling neglected!

Oh - and if you want to enter my giveaway - leave a comment on THIS POST.

Magnolia with Distress Markers

Hi Friends!  I know it's Tuesday, but hope you had a nice weekend!  Phew...we had a VERY busy week last week! We were out EVERY NIGHT except for Monday.  I was so happy to be home yesterday (even if we DID order take out!).  I was able to make a few cards over the last few days so this week should be busy on the blog :)

Before I go any further........I want to wish my Bestie CINDY a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!
This virtual cake is for you!   :)

OK!  Here's today's card:

I colored up Tilda with my Distress Markers and if anyone recognizes the sketch layout - I did use one from out there in craftland - but I don't remember from where. The paper is from American Crafts and I added glossy accents to the puddle and the raindrops.

By the way - thanks for all your well wishes for Buddy. He's doing really well, but just a bit itchy in his face since he can't scratch himself! LOL.  Bandages get changed Wednesday and then he's got one more week of the dreaded cone!

Thanks for your visit!

Wedding Cards

Quick post today because I didn't really craft too much the last few days.  I'm THRILLED to report I ran my 5k yesterday in my fastest time EVER!!  24 minutes and 50 seconds!! Yahoo!!!  It was a gorgeous day and I'm sure they raised so much money for the Bennett Cancer Center! Yah!

These are some wedding cards I made a few months back for a friend who has to attend EIGHT weddings this year!! OMG!!   They are similar to ones I made before - so if they look familiar - that's why.  Inside they are all personalized with the couple's names.

Doggy Sympathy

Good Morning!  Thanks for coming to take a look today.  Sadly, it's not a happy card today.  One of my co-volunteers at the CT Humane Society suddenly lost her dog last week.  Tyson was at our shelter for a while after coming in as a neglect case (along with his sister, Hanna, who Cindy adopted).  Tyson was probably 30lbs and should of been 65-70 lbs.  But, with great care, he filled out and was adopted by our husband-wife volunteer team.

Tyson had some separation issues and ended up doing quite a bit of damage to their home, but they stuck by him through good and bad times. Unbeknownst to them, Tyson had cancer and it all came to a head last week and they had to put him to sleep.  We all loved Tyson and feel their pain.

I used my Skipping Stones sentiment and pawprints along with American Crafts paper and a PTI bloom die. (sorry - I had to take picture with my iPhone).

Here are a few of my favorite shots of Tyson from the shelter:

Here's Taz and Tyson after a fun run-a-round.  Can you say exhausted??

RIP Sweet Boy!

SSD122 - Long Time No See

Happy Easter Everyone!!!!!!!!  First thing I'm doing this morning is putting a spoon in my Nutella jar!!!!  I gave up sweets for Lent and I've been missing my Nutella!!!!!!!!! But, I lost 7 pounds over Lent so I really can't complain too much!!

Hope you have something nice and sweet this morning too!!!

I'm sure not too many people are posting on Easter Sunday..........but I wanted to get in my card for the Skipping Stones Design Sketch # 122.   I actually made two similar cards:

I used my Skipping Stones Designs stamps and heat embossed the doggy with black powder.  I gave him a little color using Distress Inks.  I used American Crafts paper too!!   That's about it!

Oh - here's the sketch:

HAPPY EASTER!!!!!!!!!

Many wishes for.......

a beautiful day!!!  Well, I hope all you blog readers have a beautiful day today! It's Saturday - so we all should, right?

I've been trying to make birthday cards for my 'stock' and this card today is one of them!  I followed the There She Goes #145 Sketch and also played along with the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge #107 of using banners.

I started off choosing these tiny butterflies from a TSG stamp set.  I stamped out four of them for layering.  Next, I chose some American Crafts paper and stamped the sentiment on a Lawn Fawn banner.  The card was looking a bit bland even after popping the banner up and even popping up the butterflies.......so I decided to add the "Happy Birthday" under the banner.

Here's the sketch, which I flipped on it's side:

And here's the Hand Stamped Sentiment's challenge:

Bellarific Friday - Eat Dessert First!

TGIF!!  Hope you've had a good week!  Now, for someone who's given up sweets for Lent, I guess it's a bad temptation to color up images with pies on it!  Maybe this is how I'll make it through though!  LOL

This week we had a sketch challenge for the Stamping Bella Bellarific Friday.  This cutie hadn't seen any ink yet - so I thought I'd color her up with my prisma pencils. (Click on the picture for a better image!)
I chose some busy American Crafts paper for the background - maybe a little too busy in comparison with her dress.  I stamped out extra pies and popped them up for dimension and gave her dress some glitter!!

Inside the sentiment reads: "Life is uncertain, eat dessert first"

Here's the sketch I followed:

Have a great weekend!!  Tomorrow I'm transporting a 100 lb Great Pyrenees dog as part of a rescue transport run!!  Oh my!

SFYTT-January - Where hope grows...

miracles blossom.

I made this card last Sunday for the Sketch For You To Try January Challenge and the ColourQ challenge. But.....I missed the upload for the ColourQ - oh well.

I colored up this There She Goes stamp with my prismas and added some black enamel accents to the center.  I used some Cuttlebug folders, American Crafts paper and a Verve sentiment.

Here's the SFYTT sketch - if you want to play along:

PB184 & CAS173 - Misc Cards

Hi all,
It's Monday and I'm typing up my posts for the next few days.  It's very quiet in the house now that Taz is down at Forever Home.  They've already let us know he's doing great and ALREADY making progress!  Go Taz!!

Today's cards were made following the Clean and Simple FTL#173 and the 'anything goes' Penny Black Saturday Challenge#184.  I made a few using the same image, just changing up the paper and the sentiments.

Here's the Clean & Simple Sketch:

An Explosive 50th Anniversary!

Can you handle another explosion? Well, get ready! My Aunt Gail and Uncle Ralph will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary at the end of the month. Their kids put together a fun little project called "Gail & Ralph's 50 Days of Love and Surprises" . Each person was given a day to celebrate them counting down to their anniversary. Our day is this Friday the 6th, so since I was in the explosive mood, I thought it would be a great way to celebrate them.

So, once again.....here's the explosion!!

I decided to go with a "Love Birds" theme - so I started out with Papertrey Ink's Love Bird set.
I embossed the birdcage in black and then stamped the birds over it, so it looked like they were inside.
I built the rest of the box from there, adding red glass hearts as embellishments.

Here's the cage up close along with a punched heart with glossy accents.
I die cut out Sizzix numbers and stamped Studio G drink glasses and added glossy accents and some glitter to simulate champagne.

Here's the outside with a bunch of gold bling for their 'Golden" anniversary!

So, we'll hand deliver this to Aunt Gail and Uncle Ralph on Friday. (Thankfully she doesn't subscribe to my blog!).  I'm sure they'll be happy with it!

Hope you had a great New Year's Celebration!!!

Thanks for your visit!!
