Happy Birthday Cindy!!!

Today is Cindy's birthday!!  We went out to celebrate last night and had a great time!  I checked out the Hero Arts blog this week and came across Tami Hartley's post about pinwheels.  Now, I know they've been around a bit, but I never made one - until now!!!  Here is the birthday card we gave Cindy last night.
I had sooooo much fun making this card!!!!  After choosing a paisley-ish paper, I stamped the back with an Inkadinkado script stamp.  Then cut the pinwheel out and added two buttons to the center.  I stamped a 'wood' handle because I didn't have an actual one in my craftroom!

For the background, I stamped a Hero Arts star stamp and a PTI sentiment.  The card needed something else....so I layered a few EK Success border punches and bling, bling, bling!

So...obviously, this card would not fit in a normal envelope, and I didn't want to just hand it to her....so I scoped out SplitcoastStampers and came across this tutorial for a Card Purse.   The purse should hold a few cards and envelopes, but not mine, since it was so bulky.

I followed the tutorial...and added this cute little Poppy Stamp birthday girl, paper piecing her outfit and the balloons:

Cute right?  BUT......when I took pictures of the card and the purse together, I wasn't happy. They didn't go well with each other - even though I used the same paper.  As I was out for a walk.....it hit me......she needs to be holding a pinwheel instead of balloons!

So, that night......I made a mini-pinwheel and glue it over the balloons:

So, I was bit happier with the final result of the pinwheel. Yes - I'm anal retentive!!!

Hope you have a great Sunday!!!

Thanks for your visit!

OMGOSH!! What a gorgeous card set, Maria! I am in love! How lucky your friend Cindy is. I think this card and purse holder is an absolute gift in itself. :) Love the colors. Love the stamping. Covering the balloons with another pinwheel was genius.

Wow, I'm not sure which I like more--the card or the "envelope!" Love the addition of the pinwheel to that cute little gnome, and love the fun bling on the card!

OMG!!! This is great Maria! First of all, I know Cindy just loved it. It's beautiful - even though I don't associate beauty with pinwheels, this one is!!! Gorgeous card and bag.
