STB#10 - Masculine

Quick post here for the Seize The Birthday Challenge#10 - masculine week card:

I used my DCWV paper for the base and a Friskars stamp set.  I'll be honest - I don't like how Friskars stamp's stamp!  Glad I only have one set of them. But....I am happy how the card turned out!  I cut the 'cork' from the bottle and wanted it popping off the bottle.  I used my gold acrylic accents for the 'foil' on the bottle and some Stickles for the 'explosion'.

Hope you come play along with the challenge. Here's the sketch:

Here's a quick picture of some of our Napa to Sonoma 1/2 Marathon runners after participating in a Shamrock 5k yesterday:

CFC19 - Happy Autumn

Fall is coming in fast here in the Northeast!  I do love it though...........because.......it will be.........PUMPKIN SEASON!!!!!!!!  Now - if you thought I had a Nutella addiction............my pumpkin addiction is pretty bad too!!  I really think this year I'm going to have to make some pumpkin baked goods.  I did two years ago - not sure what happened last year....but I'm already having cravings typing up this post!!

I played along with the CAS-ual Fridays CFC#19 - which was to paper piece on your Fall-themed clean and simple card.  Easy enough!

And boy - do I mean EASY!  I took a piece of DCWV paper for my background, cut it to card size, then stamped a Friskars pumpkin on another piece from their Harvest Gathering paper pack.  A simple sentiment and some twine and I had these cards made!

I love the subtle leaves on the background paper!

I have a few more fall themed cards for the rest of the week!  See ya again soon :)

Quick Birthday Card.....

A friend of ours turned 60 last week and his wife threw him a surprise party.  Since Frank and I were headed to Philly, we couldn't attend the party. My hubby Frank brought him a case of wine as a gift.......so, I had to make up a quick card to go with the gift, so I thought of a 'wine' card!

I bought a Friskars set last October because I liked the wine sayings/images and thought they would be good for making host/hostess gifts.  The set is pretty good, although I really don't like how the stamps stamp -which is too bad.

But I still had to make the card. I colored with my primsa pencils and gamsol. Colored and cut out the bottle and popped it up.  On the inside of the card it says: "Like a fine wine, you get better with age."

So - I thought it would be fun to do a 'seasonal comparison' of our backyard!  So, here are "September 2010" pictures from our party and then our "January 2011" snowstorm.  Which season do you think I prefer?

Hey There Sweetie

So, I guess I'm feeling fruity! I've had my Hero Arts Simply The Best set out and have been coloring up a lot of fruits! Cherries, pineapples, apples and strawberries!  Yup - feelin' fruity!

Here's one of the cards I put together using the cherries.  I stamped the cherries with Versamark to create a subtle background.  I then stamped the cherries out on my white panel and again on a second sheet. Now this is an extreme side angle shot of the card - just to show the cherries popped up. Once I popped them up, I added glossy accents to them.

The sentiment is from Stampendous. I really have no "fruity" sentiments - so it really blocks me when I get to that part of the card.  You'll notice I used a Friskar's border punch too!

Just a quick post! TGIF! Hope you have some great weekend plans!

Hugs to you

Here's a Penny Black image that I colored up with prisma pencils and gamsol for the gal that took over for me at work. Last Friday, one of her cats got really sick and she had to put him down. I wanted to let her know I was thinking of her during this tough time.  But what started off as a sympathy card - also turned into a congratulations card.
She went to the CT Humane Society where Cindy and I volunteer and adopted a kitten later that day! She told me on Saturday - so I had the opportunity to change my sentiments on the inside before giving her the card on Monday.  I know she's still sad for the cat she lost, but now her new kitty, Abbey, will help her get through it.

Hope you're having a great week! Thanks for visiting.

Fall Friendraiser Thank You

Hello and Happy Tuesday! Today I'm posting a Thank You card I made for friends who donated money for our Fall "Friendraiser". This past weekend, my husband and I hosted about 165 people at our house for what we call our Fall "Friendraiser". We invite our friends and family over for a night of drinks and hor'dourves and ask them to bring a donation to a charity of our choice instead of a host/hostess gift. (Three years ago when we hosted a regular party - we received over 60 bottles of wine as host/hostess gifts - so we changed our party to a fundraiser)

This year we chose a local food pantry and through our party, we raised OVER $10,000.00 !!!! Some of our invited guests could not attend the party - but sent donations anyway, so we wanted to Thank them with a card.
The leaf paper is from Provocraft and the stamp is Friskars. I colored with markers and punched out with scallop punch. I finished it off with a Papertrey Ink sentiment and orange ribbon.

Here are two pictures of our yard with the tables set up. Our caterer does an amazing job. We also ordered food from three of our favorite local restaurants (Indian, Greek and Mexican) to serve to guests.

This is a picture of the gifts we gave to each guest who attended. They are flashlights with Thank You notes. We live on a street with no street lights - so for those who had to park far away - we wanted them to have some help getting back to their cars!!!
It was a GREAT night and we are so happy that we were able to raise so much money for the food pantry. (Our last Friendraiser raised $8,300.00 for Pet Rescue). If you're hosting a party in the future - give this idea a chance - it's an easy way to re-direct generosity from yourself to an organization that may need some help!
Thanks for visiting today!
