Wedding Cards

Quick post today because I didn't really craft too much the last few days.  I'm THRILLED to report I ran my 5k yesterday in my fastest time EVER!!  24 minutes and 50 seconds!! Yahoo!!!  It was a gorgeous day and I'm sure they raised so much money for the Bennett Cancer Center! Yah!

These are some wedding cards I made a few months back for a friend who has to attend EIGHT weddings this year!! OMG!!   They are similar to ones I made before - so if they look familiar - that's why.  Inside they are all personalized with the couple's names.

Thanks for your visit!

Lucy's Cards - Sketch Week Day#7!!!!

We've made it!! The final Sketch!!! Can you believe it! Thanks for sticking with me through these :)
Here's my card for Lucy's Cards Sketch Week Day 7:

I once again started with Papertrey Ink cardstock base and paper.  Once I saw the sketch, I knew I'd reach for my Autumn Leaves "Talking in Circle" set.  Sonia, the gal who sells my cards, asked for wedding cards, so I picked the "Happily Ever After" one.  I stamped it twice with chalk ink and then popped up the center sentiment.

A little ribbon weave and the wedding card (and Lucy's sketch week) is now complete!!

Here's a look at the sketch!

Well, I enjoyed these sketches! Thanks Lucy!!!

Birthday Invitations

My neighbor Christine asked me to create 35 invitations for her husband's 40th surprise birthday party.  The party was last night - so I can finally post the invites I made!

I decided to make a pocket invite with a belly band. First time doing this type of card/invite - and it was a lot of fun!  We decided on an aqua/brown color palette and the herringbone Cuttlebug folder - it was a bit more masculine than the swiss dots that I started off with.
Here's a closer shot of the invite in the pocket

I printed up the actual invite on the computer and layered it on the aqua to be slide inside the pocket. And I used a Recollections stamp set for the "40"

And, since were were invited to the party too - I wanted to make Chris a birthday card that matched his invitation - so here's what I made:
Thanks for stopping in today! Hope you liked the invitations!

C&S96 - Happy Birthday & CP70 Happy Birthday!

It was a long weekend of entertaining.  On Friday, we hosted 6 for dinner - pizza on the grill - it was YUMMY!  Oh, and wine...lots of wine.  On Saturday - the neighborhood block party was held at our house - that meant about 20 people - but everyone brought food and drinks over. Oh, and wine...lots of wine. And, on Sunday - we hosted 8 for Tango's visit. Thankfully, no wine!!! After all that "hosting" (IE: drinking and eating) - the cardmaking mojo was a bit off.

This is the card I made for Clean and Simple FTL96:

The sketch was really great - and 'should' of been quite easy but I couldn't decide what stamps I wanted to use, so I hemmed and hawed over it - finally grabbing some of these Autumn Leaves stamps.  I embossed the sentiment in silver to match the silver cardstock layer.  I don't know...guess it's OK - but not one of those cards I'm really proud of. I think I have to go back and attempt this sketch again! (Definitely when there's not sooooo much leftover wine in the system!!)

(I'm adding to my post before it publishes!!!)

So, I wrote the post above on Monday morning.......now I'm adding this card to the post on Tuesday night!
I've been crafting away - and I wanted to get this card blogged in order to enter it in the sketch challenge!
I signed up for the Card Patterns Blog after seeing Cheryl at She Stamps contribution. I'm always looking for new sketch blogs!
This card is for Sketch#70

Here's my card:
I used the All About You set from Papertrey Ink - I think I will get a lot of use out of this set!!!  I'm most excited because I finally have some flower stems!! Of all my stamps, I never had flower stems! Yippeee!
The patterned paper is from American Crafts - which I adore as well!
Now for my brown scallop background - that was the most work! Since I don't have anything like that in my craft arsenal - I had to cut 6 scallop squares with my Marvy punch and then layer them on top of each other to create the rectangle. (I had my thinking cap on today, huh??)  I added some ribbon and the card was complete!

Thanks for visiting!!

FTL 77 - OWH Cards

We got a HUGE dumping of snow on Wednesday so after Cindy and I finished walking the dogs at the CT Humane Society - I came home and was able to make a bunch more cards to send off to Operation Write Home for our soldiers!

I went to the Clean & Simple blog and used the FTL77 Sketch! It's really a great one for banging out a few cards!
For my first card - I used American Crafts paper and some ribbon I got from Costco a while back. My mother had bought me a few foam stamps at one point - so I inked it up with Distress Ink in Shabby Shutters and stamped in the corner. Then I took an Autumn Leaves scroll stamp and laid that over the green stamp. I finished it up with a Hero Arts sentiment.
For the next two cards I used some more Costco ribbon and matched it up with Papertrey Inks "Floral Fusion" set. I dotted the flowers with glitter pen - although you can't really tell in my picture and I used PTI's polka dot stamp on the pink paper.

I was able to make 12 of these cards today for the soldiers! I actually made another card - but I'll post that one next! Stay Tuned!
Thanks for visiting today!

Mojo 124 - Way 2 Go

Hello! Today's card is from the Mojo Monday Sketch#124 (yes - last week's sketch) because by some miracle, Cindy and I had so many other cards to post - this card got pushed to this Monday!

Our friend Nick received a wonderful promotion at work last week- so I wanted to make him a card letting him know we're proud of him and give him some props. I started off with an Autumn Leaves "Talking in Circles" stamp which I embossed in silver. Since Nick loves ALL of our dogs (see left side panel - our Blog Mascots) - I knew I wanted to have a dog on the card - so I grabbed a Penny Black stamp and colored him in with a light brown marker. I added some layers and a huge button that I had on hand and finished it with a border punch.

Here's an up close shot of the embossed circle.
Thanks again for visiting our blog! We really appreciate you taking the time to do so!!!
