Gift Card Pillow boxes

Hello!!!!!!  I hope all my reader's had a wonderful Christmas!!  I ran out of time before Christmas to post these quick gift card pillow boxes I made:

Using some premade pillow boxes, I punched out some snowflakes from a Recollection's paper pack.  Threaded some ornaments I had on hand and then adhered them with glossy accents!  Made for quick work - which is exactly what Santa called for!!!

Be back tomorrow with a mixed media project!!!

Thanks for your visit!

More Christmas tags

I'm continuing to make tags for my hubby's gift baskets.  Here are three vibrant ones:

After cutting the tags from my Sizzix die, I colored them with Distress Inks and then used a Stampendous music stamp for the background.  Then I used Hero Arts owls and branch and paper pieced their scarves.

Lastly I embossed a Recollections sentiment and added that to the tag. More More More to come!

Christmas Kitty Tag

Happy Saturday!  I'm popping in quickly to show you another tag I made using this Stamping Bella image:

I started by cutting out a Nestie oval and then embossing a Penny Black paisley background in white.  I colored Ms. Kitty with my prismas and cut her out.  I used another oval and a Recollections sentiment and then cut her paw free from the image to have her hold the sentiment.

I'll enter this in the Stamping Royalty #152 Tag Challenge

SFYTT - Merry Christmas

Happy Monday to you!  Hope you had a really great Thanksgiving and weekend following!  We weren't all that busy and I was actually quite happy with that.   On Saturday - I finally got to craft up a card for the Sketch For You To Try November challenge. I've participated each month of 2012, so I didn't want to drop the ball now!

I don't make a lot of Christmas cards because I actually order photo cards.  I know - hard to believe for a card crafter, but our list is about 150 and the thought of making that many makes me cringe.  But here's one I did make for the season.  I grabbed my Stampendous penguin (and Julie - this card isn't going to your house!), embossed him in black and used my Distress Markers.  I gave him a snowy background with glitter and popped up the present.

I actually turned the inside into a gift card holder too.   Well, thanks for dropping in!  Here's the sketch if you want to join in!

Have a great Monday!

Happy Birthday Lili

My friend Gisela asked me to make a birthday card for her friend Lili.  She sent me a picture of another card I had made which she liked and asked for something similar.  So, I stayed along the same lines, but jazzed it up a bit.
I grabbed my DCWV Citrus pack which has some glitter on it and used it as the base.  For the green layer, I first used one of my Sizzix die cuts to cut out a portion on the right hand side and then cut another one out of cardstock and hand trimmed it so the base  paper would pop out from behind. I embossed the green layer with a cuttlebug swirl folder.

I used a PTI sentiment and stamped out her name using a Recollections letter set.  Lastly, I used some fun ribbon.

As always, I appreciate being asked to make cards for people - so Thanks Gisela!!!!!

Have a great Saturday!!!!

Happy Birthday gift set

Be prepared for circles and circles and more circles! You may be dizzy by the end of this post!!

Last Thursday, my neighbor and friend turned 40 years old!  Aging doesn't bother me, but she was having a little trouble reaching the big 4-0.  Now, I still have until November to reach my 40th, but really......I think I'll be fine with it!

If you remember a few weeks back, we did a fundraiser to help Haylee (the dog) get into a sanctuary (we are bringing her up this Sunday!!)...one of the fundraising efforts, was a jewelry sale from Stella & Dot.  All profits from the sale went to Haylee.

It was a good opportunity to get a gift for my friend AND help Haylee!!  When the order came in - I really loved their packaging (the two small boxes on left and right).  I immediately knew I wanted to create a card for her that matched the packaging.  So, I pulled out two three PTI sets and started stamping out circles!  After all the stamping was done, I used a PTI impression plate (look hard...you can see it!!)

Once I finished with the card......I decided to stamp a box I had.....so I continued stamping circles......

After I finished and took my pictures of the set........I decided the card was missing the ever-needed bling.....so I added bling to my circles.......
I finished off the card by using a Nestie, a PTI sentiment and numbers from a Recollections set.  I was pretty happy how this whole set came out!
Enjoy your day!

Color block Birthday

The big block stamp I used below is one I've had for SOOOOO long....and I really can't remember if I ever inked it up.  I know I bought it on clearance at my LSS when I just started stamping and I could never really figure out what to do with it.

So....this past week - I decided that I'd have to tackle it!  I had to make a birthday card for my cousin Vincent. He loves birds and has two of them - so I knew my card would have to have a bird on it.

Obviously, I had to keep the card masculine.  I stamped up the block stamp with mustard distress ink.  Then I grabbed a bunch of different sentiments to make the full sentiment and I added a Hero Arts birdie!

For a finishing touch - I added a metal embellishment.  So after all this time, I think I successfully used the stamp. What do you think?

Mojo 177 & PTI - Day Four - Color Scheme Challenge

The Day Four challenge for Papertrey Ink's Anniversary Celebration is to make a project using color palettes shown on Nichole's blog.   I decided to go with Erin Lincoln's color scheme:

Here's the birthday card I made this afternoon!

Obviously all the paper is PTI. I used Cuttlebug Swiss Dots, PTI sentiment and circle dotted stamp, and Recollections number stamps.  Some twine, brown pearls and a corner punch!!

My layout is from the Mojo Monday Sketch # 177

I'm posting early because I realized that I only have until 7am Thursday morning to enter the card in the PTI contest!

Criss Cross Birthday Card

My friend Gisela asked me to make a birthday card for her boyfriend Gus. She sent me a few examples of previous cards I've made that she liked.  I started one card that was just going in the total WRONG direction (I'll post that one later)...I slept on it and decided to do a criss-cross card after seeing them on Lilsweetpea's Place.

Since Gisela loves the embossed look, I decided that it should be the main focus of the card. So I grabbed my Cuttlebug swirl and swiss dots folder and went to town!

I used a PTI sentiment on the outside and stamped his name with Recollections letters. I finished off the insert with EK Success birthday candle border punch.

That's it for today!! Hope you have a great day!

Birthday Invitations

My neighbor Christine asked me to create 35 invitations for her husband's 40th surprise birthday party.  The party was last night - so I can finally post the invites I made!

I decided to make a pocket invite with a belly band. First time doing this type of card/invite - and it was a lot of fun!  We decided on an aqua/brown color palette and the herringbone Cuttlebug folder - it was a bit more masculine than the swiss dots that I started off with.
Here's a closer shot of the invite in the pocket

I printed up the actual invite on the computer and layered it on the aqua to be slide inside the pocket. And I used a Recollections stamp set for the "40"

And, since were were invited to the party too - I wanted to make Chris a birthday card that matched his invitation - so here's what I made:
Thanks for stopping in today! Hope you liked the invitations!

Hero Arts - Blessings.......

Using the new Hero Arts set "Simply the Best" - I stamped out this pineapple and colored it with prisma pencils and gamsol.  Since the pineapple is a symbol of 'blessings' I thought I would use that for the theme of these two cards.

A bunch of different stamps were used in the cards: Papertrey Ink, Darcies, Inkadinkado and Recollections.
I DID color and add a few dew drops on the second card that Cheryl of She Stamps sent me (thanks again!)
Not much more to elaborate on with these cards - so I'll make this a super quick post!!
Thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Gift notecards

Well, my brother-in-law turned 50 yesterday. For his birthday, I decided to make him a set of notecards. I found this chartreuse cardstock and envelopes and being that chartreuse is his FAVORITE color - I had to get these done for his birthday.

These are the first notecards I've made, so I did keep them simple. I made 3 different styles of 10 notecards each.

First is an actually "card". I used a DeNami scallop stamp and Recollection letter. "L" being the first letter of his last name. I wondered if I should use "P" for his first name...but decided on the "L". I hope that's OK - or I wasted a lot of time and energy! I added a strip of brown ribbon as well.

Here's all 10 of the cards.

This is the next one I made. Since it's not a card, but more of a postcard - I wanted to do a ribbon detail to dress it up a bit, but still keep it masculine enough. I used the same Recollections letter "L" and an EK Success border punch.

Here's this set of 10:

Lastly - I found this ribbon that just shouted out to me - so I had to buy it for the third set. Even though my color scheme was brown and chartreuse - I had to change this one to black and chartreuse because of the ribbon. I did some layering of cardstock, then punched a scallop circle and again, used the same "L". The polka dots really play up the postcard enough - so I didn't feel I had to do anymore to these.

And here are the last 10:
Well, I hope he likes these! Let me know what you think!
