Thinking of You....

Our friend Cheri's grandpa died a few days ago. I was working on this basket weave card when we received the news and I thought it would make a nice card for her.
I've never made this type of card before. I had a TON of these silver and light blue strips of paper from the wedding invitations we made. (It's so hard for me to throw away scrap paper). I was happy that this type of card came into my head to use for the base!  I did some weaving in and out and finally got it to the size I liked and put some adhesive on the back.  I did pretty good getting the weaves 'almost' balanced.

I used the new "All About You" set from Papertrey Ink for my flower, which I embossed in silver. Added a PTI button and I inked the Hero Arts sentiment in silver Colorbox ink.

Have you ever made a basket weave card? I might have to try this again! Thanks for stopping in!

The woven stripes make a terrific background. How creative and resourceful you are to be able to find a way to use your leftovers. The flower looks nice embossed.

We have something in common, Maria, I am famous rather infamous for collecting scraps... sometimes my older daughter actually sticks scraps in front of my eyes and says, "Mama, why don't you throw these". And I go, "Noooooooo! I may need them, you know". And over the last ten years, I have majored in collecting some million scraps which I hardly ever go back to.

Back to this awesome card after all that waffle - so very stylish and elegant. Love the weaving - tutorial, please? The gold and navy look so rich together.

Love your creations,

Monica
