Thankfully the new vet I was taking her to was open and told me to bring her right in. My long time nursery school friend was there to greet my husband and I and helped us with the process. Dr. Lovers was so caring and gentle only knowing her for 1 week. She went peacefully and I know she's happily running around heaven, chasing tennis balls and being the 'fun gestapo" to the other dogs up there.
Lots of tears yesterday, but she lived a WONDERFUL life with us and I am comforted by the fact that we were able to give her that these past 22 months.
One of my favorite quotes when a pet passes is below and it will bring me comfort during this time:
We, who choose to surround ourselves with lives
even more temporary than our own,
live within a fragile circle,
easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps,
Unable to accept its awful gaps,
we still would live no other way.
We cherish memory
We cherish memory
as the only certain immortality,
never fully understanding the necessary plan.
never fully understanding the necessary plan.

Maria, not the news I was hoping for, but you are right she is running around with her doggie friends pain free and smiling upon you for those 22 months of love. I am so sorry for your loss though, it is never easy. Prayers to you and hubby and Lily and Nolie. Prayers to you as well sweet Layla. Get some rest.
I am so sorry for your loss. I contacted you before about your blog heading concerning Layla. She was adorable, and blessed to spend the last of her days with you. Her picture still makes me smile every day!

Oh Maria...I'm so very sorry to hear this. I'm writing this with tears running down my face. My heart goes out to you and your husband. It's so sad to lose a pet but I'm so thankful you have all the wonderful memories of her and photos. Give Nolie and Lily a hug as I know they'll be missing her too.
Hugs to you....Lynn

((Hugs)) to you.
I am so sorry for your terrible loss. Layla was such a beautiful girl. I've enjoyed reading about her and Lily and Nolie and seeing their pics. Pets bring such happiness. They just don't live long enough. I hope your memories will bring you some peace.
You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh Maria - I am so sorry to hear. It is so hard to lose a pet. I have tears in my eyes just reading about it. I know your sweet girl is in heaven, running around and having a fabulous time. Give your other pups a hug for me. They are probably wondering where their pack mate went.
