Fly your flag........

Yes - it's Monday again!  Hope you had a nice weekend!  I worked on a journal page last week that I'm sharing today!

Any of my reader's drink Yogi tea?  They have inspirational quotes on the tea bag tag and I've been saving them up for months to be used on 'something'...........and this past week - an idea came to me!  I had the idea of wind turbines in a field, but instead of the turbines..........the quotes would be flying on flags.

Here's what wind turbines look like:

Here are all the quotes I used:
  • Live by intuition and consciousness.
  • When ego is lost, limit is lost. You become infinite, kind, beautiful.
  • Goodness should be come human nature, because it is real in nature.
  • Be kind and compassionate and the whole world will be your friend.
  • Let your manners speak, your deeds prove and your delivery impress.
  • You must know that you can swim through every tide and change of time.
  • The universe is a stage on which your mind dances with your body, guided by your heart.
  • Your life is based on the capacity of energy in you, not outside of you.
  • If you unconsciously live a conscious life, you can never be poor.
  • You will never find happiness if you do not conquer your own doubt.
  • The art of longing and the art of belonging must be experienced in life.
  • Do not live by emotions; instead live by intuition and consciousness.
  • You will feel fulfilled when you do the impossible for someone else.
  • Strength does not lie in what you have. It lies in what you can give.
  • The rhythm of life is when you experience your own body, mind and soul.
  • You can run after satisfaction, but satisfaction must come from within.
  • Real happiness lies in that which never comes nor goes, but simply is
  • We are here to love each other, serve each other and uplift each other.

I hope you Fly Your Flag this week!!!!!!!

Bliss.........

So, I'm having a bit more success on my canvases than my art journal - but I'm still having fun learning new techniques.  Holy cow - I'm following like 6 new art journaling blogs - so that's fun!

Here's a journal page I made this week after thinking about our 16th wedding anniversary:

I'm pretty happy with the background. Kind of reminds me of a chalkboard AND Venetian plaster at the same time.  I just took black and white acrylic paints and then dragged them around with an old gift card.

I added strips of washi tap and then swipes of more paint using my finger.  Added some Memory Box hearts too.  You can't tell from the picture - but the heart in the lower center of picture is actually a wood heart with glitter glued to it. Looks pretty neat in person as the 'dot' to the "i"

I looked through my stash and found these postage stamp stickers.  I was limited on what I had - so I was trying to have it read "2-15-13"

For fun - I added a Studio G bride and quickly colored her in with a white gel pen!

Hope you have a wonderful Sunday!!!!!!

Valentine's Day Journal Page

Happy Valentine's Day to you!  Do any of you go nuts on this day?  Me - not so much.....you'll know why with tomorrow's post.

I do have a secret love though.........not the best thing to love so much....but it's helped me numerous times.........here we go:

Yes...........it's NyQuil!!!!!!  I've been sick for about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks now........and this little lady has helped me sleep through many a night.  It's the best remedy for no sleep for ME!  I've tried some other stuff - and nothing makes me go nee-naws like she does.

So before you think I'm totally nuts - this page wasn't 100% done FOR NyQuil.  I was actually trying a background technique that I saw online at Paper Artsy.  My background pretty much failed (according to the video results) - and the page just sat there in my room.  Until Saturday when I was snowed in and then it came to me!

Here's a bad drawing:

I've had that blinged up cherry FOREVER and glad it now has a home!!!

The journaling reads: "Oh NyQuil, You've been my saving grace for the past 3 weeks! Without you I would not have slept. Your almost empty! I'm almost better! Until we meet again! Love, Maria"

and then on the other side:
"Yes - I actually did a journal page about NyQuil.  If you know what a bad sleeper I am, you'd understand my love for this substance! Long Live NyQuil!"

Happy Valentine's Day!

SDC85 - Home is where......

there's dog hair!  Soooooo true in my house!

I put together another journal page on Wednesday.  When I saw the Stampotique Designer's Challenge #85 was "Happy" - I knew I'd have to do a page about my dogs!

I stamped some There She Goes images and colored them with my Prisma pencils before gluing them down.

The sentiment is from Impression Obsession

Did any of you buy those impression stencils WAAAAAAY back from Sizzix?  Well, I did and I have a stack of them!  This medium gives me a way to finally use them!
See the paisley?  I laid the stencil down and pressed my modeling paste into it and yummy! Great dimension!

I'm still getting comfortable creating layers - but this was a fun page to do!  Thanks for looking!!

Thanks for your visit!

SDC83 - Be

Oh boy! Another Journal Page..........Not sure my 'idea' was fully realized but.......I'm growing to like it more and more.

The Stampotique Designer's Challenge # 83 is to use your New Year's Resolutions as inspiration.
I don't make New Year's resolutions........but things on the journal page are things I want to "Be" everyday.....

Here are some close ups:

I went back after taking pictures and added an 'e' inside the big "B".  I liked it more that way.  Lots of texture on this page.  A bit bright - but I'm happy with it. Especially my white dots!

2013 Art Journal - You're never too old...

How was your weekend? Hopefully filled with fun stuff! This past week I worked on another Journal page and I have to say..............this time I'm THRILLED with the outcome!!!!!!!!  I definitely channeled some Donna Downey with this page.  I LOVE how vibrant it is!

I really had a lot of fun creating this page. I started by plopping down three colors on the left hand side of the page and then dragging it over to the right with an acetate sheet. Once dry - I painted the tree and branches - then channeled Christy Tomlinson and randomly cut leaves from my American Crafts stash and decoupaged then on. I added Outline Rubber Stamps grass and Hero Arts flower and used a combination of Faber-Castell Big Brush markers and paint to color them in.  Lastly - I took a Verve sentiment and PRAYED really hard that I'd get a great impression and not mess up the whole page!! LOL

I'm going to enter this page in the Stampotique Designer's Challenge# 81 and the Hero Arts "Try Something New" January Challenge

So, after finishing THIS page - my hopes for the journal are a bit higher than my first page - but there could be a fall from grace! :)

Have a great Monday!!!!!!

2013 Art Journal.........wait..........what???

Yup...........I'm going to 'attempt' an art journal for 2013.  Am I scared?  Yes.   Do I know what I'm doing?  HELL NO!  But.........it might be fun to see where I start and to see where I finish!

Gauging from my FIRST page...........I can ONLY improve!!!!!!!! LOL   Check out this hot mess!!

So, I called it a disaster.......but I was instructed by Elizabeth not to, so I'm going to go with "learning process".

Really - I have no idea what I'm doing and have never taken an art class in my life - so except for watching what other bloggers do and You Tube videos........I'm hoping to 'grow' with this journal!

I did have fun using all the bright paint colors and the stencils with the modeling paste, but somewhere in my Sizzix die cut letters it kinda went to crap!

But..........that's why it's a journal and I can only "hope it gets better than this!"

Now go move on along to the next blog......quickly!!!!!!!!!!!

PS: I'm entering this in the A Blog Named Hero "Try Something New" Challenge#17!"
