Ric#13 - Father's Day

Hello!!!!!!  Happy to report my computer is working a LOT better, but a new one is on order.  I was able to make some cards this past weekend and finally able to write up a few blog posts.  One of the challenges I was able to play along with is the Runway Inspired Challenge#13.  I was also able to use up two items that have been sitting on my desk for about 8 months!!!

I had embossed these two Denami shirt stamps a loooooooong time ago when I was giving a friend ideas for a card.  I couldn't toss them and finally decided to use them for a Father's Day card!  This is a pretty simple design.  I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to meet the challenge (see picture below) and a Studio G sentiment!

You've got until Friday to play along - here's the inspiration picture:

I'd give up chocolate....

but I'm not a quitter!  LOL   Lent was hard enough giving up all sweets - I don't think I could ever say goodbye to chocolate forever!

Here's a card I created the other day, just for the fun of it. No challenge, no reason.......just wanted to use a stamp I haven't used in a while.  This is a Denami stamp with a Stampendous sentiment.

I stamped out our chocolate-eating gal, then masked her and used a PTI wood floor stamp underneath her.  I used my prisma pencils to color and my Nesties for the card shape and second panel.

I even gave her blue eyeshadow and some silver earrings using enamel accents!

Hope you have a great Saturday!!!

Belated Birthday Wishes

tGIF!!!!  A few weeks ago it was Kathy @ Lucky Stamper's birthday!  I swore I wrote down her birthday on my calendar LAST year.......but apparently I didn't!   So, I had to create a belated birthday card.  A turtle always means 'belated' to me.........so I inked up this DeNami birthday turtle for Kathy!
I actually inked up the turtle a few times and popped him up a few times making a 3d effect.  I used a few Nestabilities on top of the Cuttlebug birthday embossing folder.  I used my Distress Inks to darken the edges too.

Here's a close up of the turtle layers:
So, although belated.......I hope this card  gave her a little smile!

Happy Monday!

I really pondered about starting the week off with a sympathy card............BUT.......it was for LAST WEEK's Clean and Simple FTL#156 - so, I just wanted to post it and move on to happier subjects the rest of the week!

This card has a whole bunch of different stamp companies represented!!  I've got the DeNami circle 'sympathy' stamp and a Verve flower inside and wrapped it up with a Papertrey Ink sentiment.  I guess it's a 'love all serve all' policy in my stamp room!!

Check out that zig zag stitching too!  (Thanks Mom for once again teaching me how to use my sewing machine!!)

A clean and simple card and a short and sweet post!

Have a great day!!!

Thanks for your visit!

More Sympathy.......

Yikes.........we've had a rough go of it lately.  I've had to make more sympathy cards than I've ever wanted to.  I didn't even take a picture of the card I made for Cindy......but this is the card I sent to her brother.

Yes, I know a flower isn't TOO manly.......but I think it can still work for a sympathy card....right?  I started with this DeNami circle sympathy stamp and then chose an Inkadinkado flower for the center.  I felt I made it manly by using a PTI embossing plate.  Yes?  No?    :)

I 'should' be coming back from North Carolina today - so I'll get my blog visits done over the weekend!!

Thanks for your visit!

Father's Day!!!

It's Father's Day!!!!!!!   I don't think TOO many men read my blog....but if you're a dad....I want to wish you a wonderful Father's Day!

I am fortunate to have both my father and father-in-law in my life!  Two great men who are a pleasure to be around and teach me to be a great person!!!

Here's my dad, Dom:

And my father-in-law, Skip

And, although he's not MY dad.........he IS a dad to our dogs!!!
So, wishing my hubby Frank a WONDERFUL Father's Day!   You're a great doggy dad and the girl's are lucky to have you (as am I).

And of course......I had to make a card for Frank (from the dog's of course!!)
So...Frank LOVES Nat Nast shirts...(the kind Charlie Sheen wears on Two & 1/2 Men).  I decided to 'recreate" one of his favorite shirts!!!

I used a DeNami shirt stamp and embossed it in black.

Here's a picture of Frank in his favorite shirt!!

So, I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!!!!

Thanks for your visit!

Wow - a card!!!

Well hello!!!  Can you believe it? I'm actually posting a card!!!  I'm stunned myself!  I have done some actual crafting the past few weeks, but getting anything blogged is a whole different thing.  But, as I'm waiting to head out to dinner tonight (Friday) - I decided to try and write this up!

Look closely at the card.......what do you see???  Sewing!!!!  Yup - my first official sewed card!  I figured I'd go with the swerve-y look because sewing straight is going take a bit more practice!!

This is a card I made for my Aunt Vickie. Her birthday came and went while I was in Texas...so I thought a 'turtle' theme would be good, since it got to her a little late.  Isn't that DeNami turtle adorable?
Well, as I said, we are headed out for Indian food (YUMMY!!)........so that's it for this post :)

Hopefully this weekend I can get a few more posts done....I've got a list of cards I've made that need to get on the blog.........

Hope you have a GREAT Saturday!!!

PS: Jim - get out of bed!!!!!!!!

PSS: Just came back from dinner WITH Aunt Vickie and she said she never received my card :(
Wahhh..........well........here it is Aunt Vickie. Sorry!!

Thanks for your visit!

Trying to catch up....

on some overdue posts. Now that our one and only craft fair is upon us and I'm not frantically crafting tonight (Friday)....I can set up some automatic posts for the next few days!!!

Actually - the post that went out yesterday (about Paula's birthday) was supposed to go out today - but that's how I've been lately - a bit flakey! Oh well.........here are two cards!!

This was the birthday card I made for my hubby. I based it on the Clean & Simple FTL #115.

I cut out the hearts with my Sizzix die and then punched the pawprints (Lily, Nolie & Layla). I stamped a Stampendous present and colored in with markers. I added a PTI sentiment.

Here is another card I made using the same sketch:
I started with my Denami sympathy circle stamp, added some Studio G butterflies and a few buttons.

Thanks for stopping by today!!!

Hang In There...

So, I have a friend going through a trying time and wanted to send her a card.  I've had this ribbon sitting on my desk for about 2 months now just waiting for this card to be made!  I bought it because I have the Hero Arts monkey stamp that's identical to the ribbon and thought they would go perfect together!!!
I stamped part of the monkey's tail on the ribbon with Stazon Ink, then positioned the rest of the monkey's down the card.  I colored them in with Marvy markers and used a DeNami sentiment.

Hopefully this will encourage her to 'hang in there'!
Thanks for stopping in today! Have a great day!!!

Mojo145 - Happy Birthday

Here's a birthday card I made for the Mojo Monday Sketch #145.  This card Sam, whose birthday falls right before the 4th of July. I thought the red/white/blue theme was appropriate!

I grabbed my DeNami turtle stamp and colored him up quickly with my Le Plumme markers. I used a PTI sentiment and PTI impression plate. I added a few star brads to the Sizzix die cut star.

This is a quick post :)   Have a great day!

Birthday Gift notecards

Well, my brother-in-law turned 50 yesterday. For his birthday, I decided to make him a set of notecards. I found this chartreuse cardstock and envelopes and being that chartreuse is his FAVORITE color - I had to get these done for his birthday.

These are the first notecards I've made, so I did keep them simple. I made 3 different styles of 10 notecards each.

First is an actually "card". I used a DeNami scallop stamp and Recollection letter. "L" being the first letter of his last name. I wondered if I should use "P" for his first name...but decided on the "L". I hope that's OK - or I wasted a lot of time and energy! I added a strip of brown ribbon as well.

Here's all 10 of the cards.

This is the next one I made. Since it's not a card, but more of a postcard - I wanted to do a ribbon detail to dress it up a bit, but still keep it masculine enough. I used the same Recollections letter "L" and an EK Success border punch.

Here's this set of 10:

Lastly - I found this ribbon that just shouted out to me - so I had to buy it for the third set. Even though my color scheme was brown and chartreuse - I had to change this one to black and chartreuse because of the ribbon. I did some layering of cardstock, then punched a scallop circle and again, used the same "L". The polka dots really play up the postcard enough - so I didn't feel I had to do anymore to these.

And here are the last 10:
Well, I hope he likes these! Let me know what you think!

Denami Hello

Well, while I was crafting on Friday - I decided to stamp out two of my Denami flower stamps and used different color distress inks. For this one I used tattered rose, worn lipstick and spiced marmalade. (See yesterday's post for blue/green distress inks). I didn't have a layout in mind, but I knew I wanted to make a card rotated this way:
After embossing in clear and using the Distress Inks, I colored the centers with glitter pen. I cut a few strips of paper, added the ribbon and then punched out two 1/2 circles and stamped a Hero Arts sentiment. I added some faux stitch lines, a flower punch and some buttons!.
Here's a closer shot of the distressing. I really like using these inks, I just have to start branching out and trying more things with them!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping in!!!

Happy Anniversary

My Aunt Barb and Uncle Carl are celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary this coming Friday! Holy Cow - 55 years! What a wonderful thing, huh? They are truly the most wonderful people in the entire world. Always so thoughtful, generous, loving and nice to be around. We are quite lucky to have them in our lives!

So, here is the card I made for them. I just received my PTI impression plates and I wanted to use the tin-type one. I "impressed" the card front and then layered a Denami flower stamp on top of it.
For the flower stamp, I embossed in clear powder and then used my Distress Inks to layer some colors on. Afterwards I spritzed with water and then highlighted the centers with glitter pen. I cut out a "55" from my Sizzix Curly Girl set and a Sizzix label die and used a Hero Arts sentiment on it.

I finished it off with some ribbon and some bling. I did decorate the inside, but forgot to take a picture! Oh well!

Thanks for stopping in today! Hope you have a terrific Sunday! We're off to a wine tasting tonight!!

CPS 163 - Hoppy Birthday

Here is the card I made following CPS Sketch #163. I turned it sideways since my stamped image was long. This card is for my neighbor's child who loves the color pink. I grabbed my DeNami stamp and colored it in with markers and highlighted with glitter pen and embossing pen. I saw the ribbon at Michael's and knew it would have to go on this card. You can't tell from the picture but the polka dots on the ribbon are silver gems.

Another quick post........thanks for visiting and have a wonderful weekend!!!

Hang In There....

Hello! I have a friend going in for surgery on Monday - so I wanted to send her a card to support her and let her know I'm thinking of her.

I stamped this Denami Designs monkey image and colored it in with both prisma pencils and Le Plumme II pens. I layered it a few times on cardstock and frayed the edge of the black cardstock.
Thanks for taking a look today! Hope you're having a great day!

Bird-day Card

Cindy put together this "simple basic" card as she called it! On the outside she tied a wide ribbon in knot simulating a ribbon on a box.
For the inside, so used her Sizzix embossing folder on the yellow cardstock and colored in a DeNami Designs Stamp with Gelly Roll glitter pens.
Thanks for stopping by today!! Hope you're enjoying your weekend :)

Package of cards

Hello! It is EARLY on Sunday morning and the snowplow woke Layla who decided to bark for 5 minutes, so that means I'm now awake and I remembered that I had these cards to post! I can't wait for it to get light out so I can see how Layla (our new dog) reacts to the 6"-8" of snow we have outside. I've got my new Flip camera all ready!!

Anyhow....here are a few cards I made for gifts to go along with some other items I put together to give away this week.

The first card is a DeNami image with an Inkadinkado sentiment. (I love this sentiment). I paper pieced the girl's dress and colored the rest with markers. I finally used some of the dog bone brads that I've owned for about 4 years!!
This is a CAS card if there ever was one! I had the fire hydrant paper and matched it with another Inkadinkado sentiment. Added the ribbon and voila!
I guess I'm noticing that Inkadinkado were the stamps to grab for this round of cardmaking, huh? Here's another set used:

Finally, some PTI stamps come into the mix! I used the flower stamps from Button Bits set and their polka dot stamp as well. I added some Amuse clouds and a Hero Arts sentiment.

Lastly, this is a Studio G stamp colored with prisma pencils and punched out with a Marvy scallop punch. I used the Cuttlebug swirl embossing folder and a little bling in the lower corner.
Oh - I just remembered my dream last night too - I had to teach a prisma pencil coloring class because the teacher (my high school English teacher - where'd THAT come from?) didn't show up and I was the only one who had used the pencils before....oh...those poor students! I guess the Indian food we ate last night gave me dream-indigestion!

Anyways....thanks for taking a look today! If you've been blanketed with snow...I hope you enjoy it!
