Sunflower Shower Finale!

I attended a bridal shower last week and since the invitation was so pretty - I thought I'd make a card to match.  I was pleased to see that there were a TON of sunflowers at the shower - so my card definitely matched the theme!

I used a Rubber Stampede image a few times around the edges and a PTI sentiment on vellum:

Here's the invite and my card:

And since this is the final day of the blog for a bit........here's an extra card I made and wanted to post using my favorite Hero Arts stamp and Inktense pencils.  I used some acetate for the sentiment so it didn't take away form the image:

Just wanted to say THANK YOU to those of you who have followed my blog and been kind enough to comment on my postings!  And a bigger Thank You for those of you who have ordered from me!

I will continue to make custom cards and/or projects for anyone who needs something - so feel free to email me at  maclovello @ yahoo .com

Thank you so very much!

More Thank You cards!!!

For these cards, I used a couple different stencils and Distress Inks. Then added a Hero Arts sentiment and There She Goes paw print.  These took little time and made me happy!

Thank You (straw spray)

If my memory serves me right, I believe Shari Carroll did a tutorial on straw spraying ink on the Simon Says Blog (or could of been Hero Arts).  Sadly - I'm just not 100% sure - but it was a technique I wanted to try and boy - did my lungs get a workout!!!

Using watercolor paper - I used my reinkers (some were Distress Inks and some were Dylusion sprays) and put a small puddle onto the paper.  Then using a straw - I blew air onto the puddle to move the ink around. Some were guided slowly around the paper and some were just sprayed using a blast of air.  I used my heat gun in between each color so they didn't get too muddy.

I really liked this technique.  One change would of been to use WHITE embossing powder instead of clear. Oh - and not making like 12 of these would of been the other change. LOL

Father's Day 3

Hello!

Here's the third and final Father's Day card I made that Nolie, Buddy and Sweet Pea gave to Frank.

The main image on the front is actually a page torn from a mini book I bought in Washington DC last month. My husband and I say this quote to each other now and then.  It's from a Vince Vaughn movie from a long time ago.

I used a Hero Arts background stamp with Versamark ink for some added interest and some ribbon as well.

Normally - I don't decorate the inside of the card, but I had to this time.

I used a PTI dog stamp in three different colors of our pups and some Simon Says Stamps die cuts with Lawn Fawn letters and a Studio G sentiment.

Buddy (in the middle) would of sent some sentiments to Frank, but he was too busy thinking about bones :)

Father's Day 2

Happy Monday! Hope you were able to celebrate Father's Day with your loved ones!  Here's the card we gave my father-in-law:

This is a Stamping Bella image colored with Prisma pencils.  I used my Lil Inker Polaroid die and a Hero Arts/Basic Grey background stamp.  I popped his crown up too and added some washi tape & bling!

Hope you have a great start to your week!

Cas(e)#31 - Thanks!

Well, there's been a lot of coloring lately!  Sunday was just gorgeous here in CT and I spent about 3 hours coloring on my patio.  Then Sunday night I was able to put a couple of cards together.  Here's a card following the CAS(E) This Sketch! #31 layout:

The only bad thing........is that it was pouring rain on Monday - so taking a nice picture was a bit tough.  But - these Penny Black flowers are still quite cheerful!  I colored them up with my Prisma pencils and then painstakingly cut them out.

Here's the sketch if you want to play!
Have a great day!!!!!!!

Thank You Fishes!

I was asked to make a tropical/fish themed Thank You card for someone.  This is what I ended up making:

The fish are from Studio G and colored with a bunch of different Inktense pencils.  I embossed the card panel with white powder.  For the sentiment - I colored the stamp with three different Faber-Castell big brush markers and then stamped for a cool look!

The fish were covered with a glitter pen too for some added fun!

Happy Saturday!!!!!!

SFYTT June - Dog Sympathy

Well, Monday was a sad day...........one of our CSL's had to put her dog Rudi to sleep. He lived a wonderful long 14 years, but I know his parents were still quite devastated.   Of course, I made a card for them and based it on the Sketch For You To Try (it's back!!) - June layout.

I created my own background papers using Hero Arts hearts, and There She Goes pawprints and bones.  I also used TSG stamps for my main image colored with Inktense pencils.

Here's the sketch:

Now, before I leave you on a sad note..............I have to share the INCREDIBLE thing that happen after Rudi crossed rainbow bridge.............

This picture was taken by a my CSL's neighbor one street over from her house:

I mean seriously????????  I get goosebumps every time I look at it!
Rudi was surely telling them he was running free in heaven!
RIP Rudi!!

Watercolor Flowers

A bloggy friend sent me a BOATLOAD of Hero Arts stamps for me to sell in the charity tag sale we held in April.  She told me if I saw any that I liked to pluck them out - and although I liked A LOT of them - I only picked out 4 stamps out of the probable 100 she sent! (The goal was to fundraise, not increase my hoard - LOL)

Three of the 4 stamps I chose were these HA watercolor flowers - which I finally used and turned into these cards.  Pretty simple in layout - so they went pretty fast!

For each flower I used the Tim Holtz watercolor pens then spritzed with water and stamped on watercolor paper.  The background stamp is a HA/Basic Grey cling stamp and finished each card off with a MFT sentiment.

I really love how these came out and will have to keep these flowers in mind when I need to put together a quick card!!

Dogwood Sympathy Card

Happy Saturday & Happy June to you!  It's been HOT HOT HOT in CT the past few days! But really, I'm not complaining - I like the heat!

Today I'm sharing a sympathy card I had to make using this beautiful dogwood stamp by Hero Arts and Inktense watercolor pencils.

I didn't have a layout design in mind after I finished my coloring - so I decided to put the image behind the top layer and then add the sentiment.  I created scorelines under the sentiment, but the heat must of gotten to me because they were not scored straight - so I needed to cover that boo boo up! (and yes - in real life that strip matches the flowers!)

I'm really pleased with the image - but not in total love with the layout.
Oh well!

Feel Better Blend

I'm playing along with the Moxie Fab Speech Bubble challenge and created this card using some PTI and Hero Arts stamps:

I had cut out this PTI tea kettle about two weeks ago trying to use it for another challenge.......but it just didn't work...........so it sat on my desk until this challenge.  I used my Simon Say Stamp Memory Box speech bubble die cut and PTI sentiment that I cut apart.

I created my own background using two different Hero Arts stamps. I just love the shape of those hearts!

To jazz it up just a bit, I used my Glossy Accents on the hearts and the tea kettle polka dots.

You've got until April 1st if you want to join this challenge!

ABNH#22 - You are Original.......

Remember a few weeks ago.....I mentioned a second generation card on THIS POST?........well, I'm finally posting it! LOL

This background happened after heavily spraying a Hero Arts large floral background stamp with water and then laying it down on a Dylusion sprayed background. (Sounds confusing huh?)  On the original card I was using the water on the stamp to pull away color on the background.....so when I lift the stamp I had this beautiful array of color that I re-stamped for this background. Yummy!

I used a Simon Says Stamp embossed in white and added a few gems for the banner.  I'm entering this card in the A Blog Called Hero Challenge#22 - Freestyle

Hope you're having a great Saturday!!!!!!!

Tuesday Trigger - Happy Birthday

Happy Saturday to you! Hope you have something fun planned.  I was inspired to play along with the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger Challenge. I haven't played in a while, but I thought the inspiration photo was awesome and an idea immediately popped into my head:

(Scroll down a bit to see the inspiration picture first............I'll wait..............)   OK - so the card is a bit 'brighter' than the inspiration but I really like it!

So for the background.........I cut down my watercolor paper to size and then heavily spritzed it with green and teal Dylusion inks.  I dried it a bit and then spritzed more and then to get a bit of floral on it, I took my Hero Arts Large Floral Background stamp (below) and heavily sprayed it with water. (The Dylusions react with water).  Then I stamped it down and held it there for a bit. I was able to get subtle outlines of the flowers.

I stamped a There She Goes butterfly and colored it in with Distress Markers, added some gold acrylic accents (her belt) for the butterfly's flight leading to a PTI sentiment.  I added the wonky ribbon to reflect the layers on the dresses neck.

Here's the Tuesday Trigger:

And....stay tuned because I was able to get a second generation impression of that large floral background....and it's cool!!!!!!

"A friend.........

is one who knows us, but loves us anyway!"  What a great quote right?  That came from a Stamping Bella stamp set and I used it on my latest mixed media project.

On Sunday, Cindy and Lindsey came over to craft up some canvases.  Thankfully I had a little idea in my head on Saturday night and it pretty much came out the way I wanted! (This is going to be picture heavy!)

This is a 7" x 14" canvas I actually picked up at Walmart.
I started by covering with with pages from a book. Then added three different paint colors.

I stamped out some Hero Arts flowers on patterned paper and then cut them out layering them on each other. I cut out some stems and leaves and and laid those down too.

I used some modeling paste and stencils for some dimension and also some bubble wrap and paint.
I also added some stickers spelling out "friend" and "love".

I used my Sharpie pen for black edging, various rub-ons and MS beads in the center of the flowers.

Here's Lindsey working on her canvas

Lindsey and Cindy in process

And their finished projects!

I going to enter this canvas in the Stampotique Designer's Challenge#88 "Use Text"

Hope you have a great day!!!! Thanks for looking!!!
