More OWH Cards

Quick post just showing more Operation Write Home cards I worked on last weekend!  I finally filled the box and sent it off to Dixie!

I'm off to Harrisburg, PA today (a 4-hour one-way drive) to swap out a doggy from our shelter. She just wasn't adjusting well, so she's going back to her rescuer. I am picking up three puppies from her. It will be a long day - but one doing good work. Don't feel bad for me though - the rescuer has an 8-hour one-way drive ahead of her!

CP103 - OWH Cards

This past weekend I was able to make about 20 more cards for Operation Write Home.  I've got to finish filling my box of cards up so I can ship them out!

Card Patterns is celebrating their 2 year anniversary - so I used their sketch #103 and went VERY clean and simple with my cards!

Paper is from DCWV and sentiment is Papertrey Ink.

Here's the sketch if you want to play along!

Lucy's Cards - Sketch Week #2

Happy 1/11/11 !!

Today I'm showing you another set of cards I'm sending to Operation Write Home. I used Lucy Abrams' sketch # 2:
Again, I reached for my Papertrey Ink cardstock and paper.  I used their star stamps from the Mailbox Greetings set and an Hero Arts stamp for the sentiment.  I chose to make this a square card, so I could split up the 8x8 paper evenly while still following the sketch.

Here is the sketch if you want to play along!!

Lucy's Cards - Sketch Week #1

I came upon Lucy Abrams' blog somehow and I'm so happy I did!! Last week she started a Sketch per day challenge and although I joined in late....her sketches are a lot of fun, so I spent some time on Friday making some cards using her sketches.

Here's my card for Sketch #1:
So, it's 'almost' the same as the sketch!  I cut hearts from my Sizzix die and four wouldn't fit across. I wanted to stamp "LOVE" in each heart, so, since only three fit "LUV" had to do!  The cardstock and paper are from PTI and the small letters are a Studio G set and the "U" is actually a foam stamp.  These cards will also be sent to Operation Write Home!

Here's the sketch if you wanted to play along!

I also took these photos Saturday on my morning walk with my dogs down my street. It was just GORGEOUS out!!  The sky was a beautiful pink!

You can see the sun just hitting the top of the pine tree in the center of the picture behind our house.
Gorgeous tree at the corner of our property.
Heading down away from our house.

I am so happy that I can stop and appreciate the beauty that is around us everyday!  Make sure you try and do so too!!!  Happy Monday!

FTL 122 - I miss you

Happy Saturday!!!  Yesterday was a nice and snowy day! (well, it's still snowing b/c I'm writing this on Friday).  It gave me a great opportunity to make a bunch of cards for Operation Write Home!!!  I have been slacking on my cards for OWH and I'm hoping to turn that around in 2011.   I'm tossing around the idea of hosting another cardmaking party too!  I gotta get on the ball if I'm going to follow through with that!!

On to my card!  Friday is Clean and Simple Sketch day - and so I made my card following their sketch FTL122.
The card was supposed to be a longer card, but I just stuck with the A2 size.  I grabbed my Papertrey Ink paper pack and pulled some papers out.  I also used the PTI All About You set and an EK success border stamp.  I decided to cut out flowers from another PTI paper and use as my embellishment.  I made 8 of these cards in total.

If you want to play along - here's the sketch!!!
Hope you have something fun planned today!!

Thanks for your visit!

FTL 77 - OWH Cards

We got a HUGE dumping of snow on Wednesday so after Cindy and I finished walking the dogs at the CT Humane Society - I came home and was able to make a bunch more cards to send off to Operation Write Home for our soldiers!

I went to the Clean & Simple blog and used the FTL77 Sketch! It's really a great one for banging out a few cards!
For my first card - I used American Crafts paper and some ribbon I got from Costco a while back. My mother had bought me a few foam stamps at one point - so I inked it up with Distress Ink in Shabby Shutters and stamped in the corner. Then I took an Autumn Leaves scroll stamp and laid that over the green stamp. I finished it up with a Hero Arts sentiment.
For the next two cards I used some more Costco ribbon and matched it up with Papertrey Inks "Floral Fusion" set. I dotted the flowers with glitter pen - although you can't really tell in my picture and I used PTI's polka dot stamp on the pink paper.

I was able to make 12 of these cards today for the soldiers! I actually made another card - but I'll post that one next! Stay Tuned!

CAS52 - Hey there, chickadee

Another day of Operation Write Home cards to send over to our soldiers serving our country. I am so happy with the amount of cards I've been able to make this week because I've been feeling neglectful and guilty!!!

This Clean and Simple layout is from Splitcoast Stamper's CAS52 challenge. I started off my color palette with the ribbon I bought last year. I chose a 7 Gypsies bird stamp because I felt I could stamp it in a few different colors and it would look nice. Lastly, I used a Papertrey Ink sentiment from the Everyday Button Bits collection.
Thanks for taking a look today! Hope you're having a great week!!

FTL76 - Thinking of You

Here is Day Three of my Operation Write Home cards to send to the soldiers. I used the Clean&Simple FTL76 layout. For this card I used Papertrey Ink paper from their Chocolate Remix collection.

I punched out the flowers and the butterflies with a 1" punch and punched the plaid paper with a a 1 3/8" punch. I tied some brown ribbon and used a PTI sentiment in green to give it a bit of color.

This card is definitely "Clean" and "Simple". Maybe a bit TOO clean and simple for my taste but again, I'm trying to get a collection of cards together to send over to the troops, so this helps with the "time" frame of making cards.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by today!!

CAS50 & FTL75 - Mother's Day

Here is Day Two of my quest to make cards for the soldiers and send them off to Operation Write Home. Today's card is for Mother's Day and I used the SCS Clean And Simple Challenge #50 and the challenge was to use TEAL and the card layout was from Clean&Simple#75.

I started with some butterfly ribbon I purchased at Michael's sometime last year. I used an Inkadinkado butterfly stamp in teal and Studio G Mother's Day Stamps.s The Clean and Simple challenges and layouts really help make a bunch of nice cards quickly.
I was able to make 12 of these cards - yahoo!!!

Thanks for visiting today!

CPS151 - Congratulations

I've been neglecting our Soldier's and haven't been making cards for Operation Write Home (and the guilt is getting to me!!!). So this past weekend, I dedicated some time to make some cards to send off to the troops.

I used the Card Sketch from CPS 151 for my layout.
I used Papertrey Ink paper from their Bitty Baby Blessings collection, My Favorite Things bunny from "Can Ya Dig It" and a Hero Arts sentiment.

I was able to get eight of these cards done in about an hour's time - so for me - that's pretty quick. The next few days I'll show a few more that I've gotten done! Thanks for stopping by today and if you haven't been to Operation Write Home's website...please take a look and think about donating cards or cash donations to help with shipment costs. THANKS!!
