Sending Hugs

Happy Friday!!!!!!!!  I've had a couple of friends needing some hugs and encouragement lately - so I colored up this Penny Black image with my prisma pencils and sent it off to one of them this week.

I used a Tim Holtz embossing folder in the background and my Lawn Fawn banner die cut and sentiment. I actually forgot I had the banner outline stamp so it looks a little bland, but I did ink the edges so it pops out a bit!

Have a great weekend!!!!!!

Delight in Life!

Hey Friends - just quickly popping in to share a card I made last week out of my 'smooshed' Distress Ink leftovers and a Penny Black image:

I can't remember who makes the sentiment - and honestly - I'm too lazy to get up and look!

Have a great day!

Sent with Love.......

I really love Distress Inks!  The simplest way to use them is the 'smoosh' method.  Emboss a stamp on watercolor paper, smoosh a few colors on your craft mat, spritz with water and smoosh your watercolor paper on top!

That's exactly what I did with this Penny Black stamp and I love the result!  I cut out the card base from a Nestability die and added some stamps to that for some background!

Hope you play with your Distress Inks this weekend!!!

It's Father's Day!!!!!!!

Happy Father's Day to my dad, Dom and my father-in-law, Skip!  Happy Father's Day to my hubby, Frank  too - because after all - he is a daddy to Buddy, Nolie and Sweet Pea!

Here's one of three Father's Day cards I made for the holiday.  This will be given to my dad this afternoon at our BBQ:

This is a MAJOR collaboration of stamps!   The chair is from Eat Cake Graphics. The 'rug' is from Penny Black and the fish, slippers and sentiment is from MFT.  The image is colored with my Inktense watercolor pencils.

Happy Father's Day!!

Cas(e)#31 - Thanks!

Well, there's been a lot of coloring lately!  Sunday was just gorgeous here in CT and I spent about 3 hours coloring on my patio.  Then Sunday night I was able to put a couple of cards together.  Here's a card following the CAS(E) This Sketch! #31 layout:

The only bad thing........is that it was pouring rain on Monday - so taking a nice picture was a bit tough.  But - these Penny Black flowers are still quite cheerful!  I colored them up with my Prisma pencils and then painstakingly cut them out.

Here's the sketch if you want to play!
Have a great day!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Saturday to you!!!!!!  Hope you had a great week!  I'm finally over my sickness - so I'm thrilled.  I have to say - I was a lucky girl this past week.  Per my hubby's orders to "take it easy" - I didn't set an alarm for 4 out of the 5 days!  Reality will be brutal on Monday......but I enjoyed it while I could!

Here's a card I made two weeks ago and is finally making its appearance on the blog:
This is a Penny Black image colored up with my prisma pencils.  I've mentioned my love of poppies right?  I used a Nestie die cut and then masked the inside and colored up the outer scallops for some definition.

Well - I hope you have a great day!!!!

SSSC - Happy Mother's Day

Well, I'm finally starting to feel a bit normal.  About 90% - so it's time to get back in the swing of things!

Here's a card I made last week - before the flu - but am finally posting!  It also fits the Simon Says Stamp Challenge - "Anything Goes" Penny Black challenge.

So......who can identify this flower? Is it a Morning Glory?  I've never used it before because I really didn't know what flower it is!  But - I decided to ink it up last week.  I embossed it in white and used my Distress Markers.  Then I flicked some color at the end.  I used a PTI sentiment and then wanted something fun for the bottom of the card.

So - I looked through my felt and had some coordinating colors and decided to try some rolled flowers.  I hand cut leaves and added some  pearls to the center.

Thanks to those who gave me well wishes!!!  Hope you're all doing well :)

STB#2 - Masculine Birthday

It's the second week of the Seize the Birthday challenge. This week is to make a masculine birthday card using the same sketch as last week.

Here's my card:

I started off by stamping and coloring this Stamping Bella image with my prisma pencils.  Then I masked the image and stamped a Penny Black brick background over it and colored that with Distress Inks.  I added a little more red prisma pencil to the bricks then some white highlights.  I stamped a PTI birthday sentiment on the brick.  I thought it would of been a bit more bold - but oh well!

I used Tim Holtz and Cuttlebug embossing folders and then sanded them a bit.  Some twine and a button and this masculine card is done!

Here's the sketch if you want to play:

STB#1 - Happy Birthday

Hello again!!!!  Next card up is for the Seize The Birthday Challenge#1.  If you haven't heard of this challenge blog yet - it's pretty cool.  For the first week - you create a feminine card based on their sketch. The second week - you create a masculine card based on the same sketch.  I know I always need help with masculine cards - so I'm excited to have found this new challenge blog.

Here's my feminine card:

I recently got some Dylusions spray inks - so I wanted to try them out.  I embossed this Penny Black flower with white powder on watercolor paper.  Then I spritzed them with teal and blue inks.  It will take a bit to get use to the spray (and the blue fingers I went out to dinner with) - but I'm happy with the result!

I used a PTI sentiment that I bent to fit that layer and a PTI impression plate that I dotted with my white gel pen.

I added a few gems to the flower and dew drops to the right side!

OK - well - go check out this challenge blog if you haven't already!  Here's the sketch:

ONE more card to come!!!!!!!  See you again soon!

Sent with Love

Just a quick post today of a Penny Black stamp on Kraft colored with my Prisma pencils:

I can never get a true picture of this cardstock! It always edits to florescent! Yikes!  And you can't even see the Hero Arts plaid background!  But it definitely has great cheerful colors in the dead of winter!

Altered Canvas

Happy Sunday to you! Over Christmas I worked on another mixed media canvas for a bloggy friend! I got word that she received it.....so I wanted to share it with you!

I'm still trying to find my way with Mixed Media and what kind of style I'm most comfortable with - but for now - I'm really just recreating things I've seen on You Tube videos or other friend's blogs!  This is my FIRST attempt at drawing a person - no surprise there huh??  LOL

I am really happy how it turned out overall.  Still getting use to being very random and loose with design. Hard for me because I'm usually very precise.

What do you think??

TSOT#97 - Merry Everything

Hi Bloggy Friends!

Christmas is coming up fast!!!!!!  I'm trying to get a few more things done!  What I did get done is this Christmas card using Penny Black's Mimi and I used the Try Stamping on Tuesday Sketch# 97:

I paper pieced her hat, jacket and scarf and used my Prisma pencils for the rest.  Once I put the card together, I used my white Acrylic Accents to fill in all the snow flakes.

Here's the sketch if you want to play:

I'm also entering this in the Simon Says Stamps Challenge!

Last night, I had my neighborhood gals over to make glitter ornaments. (I'm writing this up on Wednesday before they get here) - so I can just imagine what my craft room looks like today!!!

I'll post a few pictures on Friday!

Christmas Kitty Tag

Happy Saturday!  I'm popping in quickly to show you another tag I made using this Stamping Bella image:

I started by cutting out a Nestie oval and then embossing a Penny Black paisley background in white.  I colored Ms. Kitty with my prismas and cut her out.  I used another oval and a Recollections sentiment and then cut her paw free from the image to have her hold the sentiment.

I'll enter this in the Stamping Royalty #152 Tag Challenge

Christmas Tag and PB Card

Hello All!
I've been crafting up some tags this week for my hubby's gift baskets.  He needs 30 of them, so I've been busy with those.

Here's one of the tags I made using some patterned paper:
Not much to explain about the tag except it looks better in person (LOL)
I'll enter this in the Stamping Royalty #152 Tag Challenge

I also made a card following the Penny Black Cute 2 Elegant sketch:

I'm embarrassed to say how long this CAS card took me!  I embossed the PB "Joy" stamp with green ink and clear powder.  Then embossed PB background with white powder.  I colored it in with Distress Markers and after that was all done - I added some perfect pearls to get a nice shine.  And...like the tag above - it looks better in person!  Oh well.......someday I'll take better pictures!

Hope you have a terrific day!!!

Thanks for your visit!

Wishing you......

Here's another "Wishing You..." card I made last week.  This time using a Penny Black image and Distress Markers.

I kept the card quite simple but added some nice glitter to the flower.  Here's a close up:

So.........if Hurricane Sandy didn't take me away from blogland enough........I'm now taking a short break. I have some posts set up during this absence and I'll do my best for visits when I come back.  Sorry if any of my Bloggy friends are feeling neglected!

Oh - and if you want to enter my giveaway - leave a comment on THIS POST.

Ink Swatches

Happy Saturday peeps!
Well, as of Friday at 1:15pm, we still don't have power, but I have generator running and my internet is working so I figured let me pop in and get a few posts done while I can.

So........what do you do while you wait for Hurricane Sandy to hit?  You FINALLY make ink swatches!  After we lost power the day of the storm, there was still about an hour's worth of daylight left, so I moved all my stuff to my window seat and decided to make my Distress Inks and Memento Inks colors swatches.

I found a bunch of ideas just Googling  'ink swatches' and I decided to split my swatches.  Here's one side:

And here's the other.  Sometimes I do tone on tone stamping - so I wanted have swatches showing the sponged color plus the stamped image on top.  This was really easy to do.  I used masking tape down the center of the tag and used my sponges to put the color on the one side.  Then I removed the tape and stamped this Penny Black paisley (LOVE!) stamp across entire tag.

Since I don't do tone on tone with my Memento Inks - I made these swatches a little different:

I used a solid PTI circle stamp in the corner to see a bold color effect. Then masked off that color and stamped the stamp PB stamp on the rest of the tag.

These will be a HUGE help going forward!!!

Thanks again to those of you who've sent kind words.  Again - we've been very luckily. Obviously being without power is an inconvenience but when I see the damage and destruction others have to deal with - it's really insignificant.

Oh - an since my brother is now a follower of my Facebook Crafty Cre8tions page.......HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOUIS!!!!!!

Have a great day!

S{CRAP} on my desk!

A few weeks ago, Kristina Werner posted a video of a card she made using the scraps she had on her desk.  As I looked around my desk on Tuesday - I was inspired to do the same.  I keep a lot of scraps on my desk........so there was a lot to work with!

Here's what I started with:
I had a few die cuts, chevron embossed background, stamped paisley background, washi covered heart, some burlap and just some other 'crap'  :)

I laid things out on my desk that I felt went together and was able to put together FOUR cards!
Holy S{crap}!

So..........here's what I'm calling my S{crap} cards!  LOL
S{craps} plus a Simon Says sentiment, PTI Owl, Cuttlebug embossing folder and some bling.

S{craps} plus a PTI wheat stamp, PTI impression plate for card base and buttons.

S{craps} plus a DCWV piece of plaid paper, PTI sentiment and felt acorn.

S{craps} plus silver ink for paisley panel, ribbon and PTI sentiment.

What do you think?
I was actually patting myself on the back with these!
Do you use your scraps or just chuck 'em?
