{Pin}C#9 - Birthday Card

Hello and Happy Sunday to you!!  I'm FINALLY running my first 5k of 2012 today!  It's for our hospital's HUGE event called "Hope in Motion".  Run starts at 9:30am! Yah!!

My blogging friend Lynn of Crafty Creations by Lynn was just asked to be a DT Member on the {Pin}spirational Challenge blog, so I wanted to support her and play along with their challenge this week.
(The inspiration photo is down below my card)

I hope 11 year old girls still like pink!  This is a birthday card going to my God-daughter in July.

I started my card off with a Savvy small background stamp I haven't used in a bit. I embossed it in white and then used pink Distress Inks all over it.  I took a Verve cupcake stamp and paper pieced the top of it 4 times.  Added two Inkadinakdo ticket stamps, some ribbon and of course.........bling!!

Here's the shot of the layers of cupcake!
I had fun with this challenge!!!  Can't wait to see what the next one is :)

Here is the inspiration picture if you want to play along.  You have until Tuesday!:

FTL174 - Thank You

Just a quick post today - here is another Thank You card I sent out to friend's who sent a nice little gift in memory of Lily Pumpkin Pie.  I went back to my DCWV dog pack - because it works so well.  I followed last week's Clean and Simple FTL#174

JUGS119 - Collage Time

This week on the Just Us Girls blog - Challenge#19 is to make a collage.  I have to say I've never made a collage before, so this took a few trial and errors.  Here's the card I came up with for the challenge:

I started off embossing a Savvy butterfly stamp.  Then I used a variety of brown inks on Memory Box, Hero Arts and Studio G stamps.  I didn't want to clutter the rest of the card, so I just punched out some hearts with a MS punch and used a Studio G sentiment.

My collaging needs a bit of work, but I'm happy with my beginner's result.

Thanks for your visit!

Holiday Tags - Day 7

Well, this is it - my last tag (well, last tag that I've made through December 4th).  I had one more remaining blank tag laying on my work table and was wondering what to do with it.  I knew I had a poinsettia stamp that I hadn't used...and also knew that the color pink was missing from my previous tags....so I started with that.
I stamped the poinsettia out twice in Memento ink and cut out some layers.  I stamped leaves from PTI's All About You set and cut those out. Next I covered the tag in Shabby Shutters Distress Ink and stamped a Hero Arts swirl with Peeled Paint.  I added glossy accents over the swirl lines.

I didn't just want to add glitter to the center of the poinsettia, so I got out my beads and decided to use embroidery floss and sew the beads on.  I really love how it came out.

Here's a super close shot:
I used muted green beads around the edges and one clear green in the center.  I finished off the poinsettia with some perfect pearls for some shine.

I added a To/From circle and my final tag was done!!

I had so much fun making these tags! Now I'm going to have to step up my wrapping of gifts to match these tags!! (or better yet, I will buy some plain wrapping paper so the tags stand out!!)

By the way - I don't think I mentioned that all of my tags were cut from a Sizzix die cut.

Hope you're having a great day!!

Best o'luck

I wish I could say this was a quicky card...but it actually took me a long time. I couldn't decide what to do...but eventually settled on this:
My hubby starts a new job today (Tuesday), so I actually packed him a lunchbox!! HA HA....he's going to work for a company called CW Brown...owned by...Charlie Brown! So, when I was in NYC on Saturday, I found a lunch box with Charlie Brown's signature yellow and black shirt on it. I filled it with some goodies and this card and left it in his car for him to find this morning!! (Did you find it honey??)

I used Savvy wishbone stamp and Studio G sentiment. I glued some rhinestone on and layered it all with some random paper I had.

Well, hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by today!!

Wedding Congratulations

I'm back!!! WOW - two weeks away from cardmaking and I think I was beginning to get a little cranky!

I spent a week down in Florida with the Sacred Heart University (my college) Softball team helping out with their Spring Training trip. Then after a 15 hour travel day from FL to CT (should of taken 5 hours at most) on Sunday...I came home to a house with no power after the huge storm that rolled through the Northeast. Thankfully we sustained little damage to our property but I still wasn't able to get into my craft room until today (Monday!). Yipeee.

One of Cindy and my co-volunteer's at the CT Humane Society got married this weekend. I was able to go to the church to see the ceremony and she looked GORGEOUS! It's funny when we get to see each other dressed up and wearing makeup because normally when we are at the Humane Society we look a little ragged. So, here's the card I made to get me back in the crafty mode.
I grabbed some American Crafts paper from the Letterbox collection. I stamped a Hero Arts birdie stamp on vellum and colored it in with markers and cut it out with a scallop circle. I added some Martha Stewart glitter on the hearts and a little pearl on the bride's flower. I finished it off with a PTI sentiment.

On the inside of the card I stamped a Savvy Stamps wedding cake and colored in with markers. I added some more glitter on the heart topper.
And I finally remembered to take a picture of the inside of the card BEFORE I wrote my sentiments!!!!
