STB#10 - Masculine

Quick post here for the Seize The Birthday Challenge#10 - masculine week card:

I used my DCWV paper for the base and a Friskars stamp set.  I'll be honest - I don't like how Friskars stamp's stamp!  Glad I only have one set of them. But....I am happy how the card turned out!  I cut the 'cork' from the bottle and wanted it popping off the bottle.  I used my gold acrylic accents for the 'foil' on the bottle and some Stickles for the 'explosion'.

Hope you come play along with the challenge. Here's the sketch:

RS54 - Happy Birthday

Well, Hello!  Here with a card for the Retro Sketches Challenge#54.  This is a TALL card! About 11"
My friend gave me a thank you card that was in a beautiful (untouched) envelope - so I figured I'd recycle the envelope by making a card to fit!

When I saw the sketch - I knew this tall card would work perfectly! I used my DCWV glitter flower paper and a PTI diecut and sentiment.  I jazzed it up with two glitter brads and  then for fun I added some flicks of Dylusion sprays.

Hope you have a great day!!!!!!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Saturday to you!!!!!!  Hope you had a great week!  I'm finally over my sickness - so I'm thrilled.  I have to say - I was a lucky girl this past week.  Per my hubby's orders to "take it easy" - I didn't set an alarm for 4 out of the 5 days!  Reality will be brutal on Monday......but I enjoyed it while I could!

Here's a card I made two weeks ago and is finally making its appearance on the blog:
This is a Penny Black image colored up with my prisma pencils.  I've mentioned my love of poppies right?  I used a Nestie die cut and then masked the inside and colored up the outer scallops for some definition.

Well - I hope you have a great day!!!!

RS45 - Wishing you Sunshine

Yes - two posts in one day!!!  This card is for the Retro Sketches challenge #45:

I started by stamping a Stamper's Anonymous sun ray stamp twice on the base. Then used a PTI sentiment on my DCWV paper and finished it off by layering two Sizzix clouds.

Have a great day!!!!!!!

Grateful for friends & the reveal

OK - here's the last of the Thanksgiving cards I made two weeks ago.  I've had fun pairing the DCWV paper with the PTI set.  Hope you haven't gotten too bored with these :)

This foil pine cone paper was tricky to use until I added the pine stem panel!  I really LOVE how this one turned out!

So....I'm not HUGE on posting when I leave town (but I guess if you're FB friends with me you know already).  We just returned from 11 days in ITALY to celebrate Frank's 50th birthday!!!!  Even though I 'pre-posted' these blog posts - I'm SURE we had a great time!!!!

Give me a few days and I'll post some pictures!

Thankful for Friends

Hi!  I'm on a blog break - but I've set up posts to publish every other day - since I made a bunch of Thanksgiving cards while we were out of power.  I guess I was feeling very 'thankful' that power was the only thing we lost.

These posts will be short and sweet :)

I purchased this PTI First Fruits set at my LSS consignment sale.  I really love it!  Here I matched it up with some DCWV paper and 'thanks' ribbon I've had for a while!

FTL210 - Happy Birthday

Happy Monday! Quick post today!  Here's a card I made on Friday in my PJ's for the Clean and Simple FTL#210 sketch:

I used my DCWV paper for the sketch layout and embossed a PTI sentiment in white!  I embossed the base of the card with a PTI impression plate!

Here's the sketch:

On Sunday - we manned (rather, womanned) the CT Humane Society booth at the Hounds on the Sound event for Pet Rescue!

More Fall Cards

Are you getting tired of my Fall cards yet?  Hope not!  I've got two more to show you today and I'm going to finish out the week with more! Watch out!

I'm am still creating cards using the Impression Obsession leaf stamp that I stamped out last week. I guess I went a bit crazy huh?  But it was fun to use the stamp in different ways.

This first card used 'second generation' stamping on watercolor paper with my Distress Markers.   I cut out the image using my nesties and sponged a bit.
I layered that on glittery brown cardstock. Then used a PTI woodgrain impression plate and layered some color over that to give it some dimension.  Used up some scrap DCWV paper and a Studio G stamp and one more fall card was complete.

For the second card - I thought I'd try my hand a collaging..........which needs some PRACTICE!
I took a Tim Holtz tag and used a few different stamps to create the collage.  You can still see some of the Impression Obsession leaves floating around on the card.  The tag was so big, I ended up tearing the bottom off.

I stamped the card background with a Stampin' Up stamp I bought at my LSS 'consignment sale along with two PTI sets! SCORE!  You see that material on the card?  My hubby bought some new shoes and they came in these fabric bags, so I decided to use some of that on the card.

So - there are two more cards!  I'll be back with more :)

Birthday leaves......

Are you read for more leaves????????  I LOVE this stamp!!!!!!!  My cousin's birthday is coming up so I wanted to make him a card with the leaf stamp and an acorn!
I used my Impression Obsession stamp again - but this time I embossed it with white powder on watercolor paper.  Then I used my Distress Inks and daubers to color in the background. I gave it a light spritz of water so the colors would blend and that made for the beautiful background!

For the sentiment panel - I repeated the same steps after using a PTI sentiment, added some twine and a fabric acorn.  I layered it on DCWV paper and popped it up for dimension.

I normally don't make square cards, but since I was handing this to him, I didn't have to worry about extra postage :)

And of course today - we remember those people who died on September 11, 2001 and all their family members who have lived with their loss.

SFYTT Sept - Sending you the best...

Happy Monday to you!!!!!!! What a weekend! We had so much fun at my parent's anniversary party. I'll share some photos at the bottom!

I got some crafting time in last week and I put together a birthday card using my favorite Impression Obsession leaf stamp (you'll be seeing a lot of it used this week) and one of the new Kristina Werner stamp and die sets.

For the leaves - I used my Distress Markers and colored directly on the stamp using a variety of colors. Then I spritzed it with water and stamped on watercolor paper.  I used the Sketch For You To Try September sketch for my layout.

Here are some pics from Saturday night!  The Happy Couple!

My parents and us kids:

and.......the cake fail:

Yup  - that SHOULD of read "Dom and Lois"   LOL

Have a great week!!!

Happy Labor Day!!!!!!

Wow - it's been a while!  Hope you have something fun planned today. We'll be  hanging at the pool if the weather cooperates........

So............the BIG news is DESTINY GOT ADOPTED YESTERDAY!!!!!!  Along with another one of our CT Humane Society dogs Chi Chi.  Here's a picture (although blurry) of her new family:
When we got the call that she was going home - Frank and I hopped in the car and drove up to say goodbye. I gave the new mom my email address - so hopefully she'll keep in touch.  I will miss Destiny GREATLY!

I also have a quick card to show - this has sat on my work desk for a week and I finished it up Sunday morning for my friend Jim (even though it has flowers on it - oops)
I took the picture using my cell phone AFTER giving him the card!!
I used my new Memory Box tree/moon stamp and a PTI owl and sentiment.

I really don't love it (Sorry Jim - my next card for you will be MUCH better)

I kind of 'forced' this card because my mojo went out the window.  Hopefully it comes back soon!

Well, have a great day!!!!!!!!!

SR137 - Thank You

I was the LUCKY winner on the Paper and Such Design Blog last week and was mailed a set of their stamps! The set is called "Wings and Such" and I wanted to put it to use immediately for their blog challenge to stamp on patterned paper.

First I grabbed my DCWV Citrus paper pack and chose a few papers. I stamped the butterflies with StazOn because the DCWV paper has some kind of coating on it and my ink usually smudges. I put a nice layer of glossy accents on top of the butterflies and used some rolled up paper under the wings to keep the wings 'up'.

Then I took the sentiment and repeatedly stamped the 'thank you' on the banner.

Here's a close up of the butterflies:

My card layout uses the Stamping Royalty #137 sketch challenge:

Go check out Stamps and Such - they have some cute sets!!
