Life's A Ball!

Hi Friends!

First off - a bloggy friend of mine said that my feeds weren't showing up in her reader :(   I'm not sure how to correct this.  I'm on both Bloglovin' and Feedly.  Any help out there?

Here's a MM canvas I made before I left for California.  I'll bring it up to a charity dog event in October:

This was a fun one to work on. I've got to get a few more done before the October event, so I think my hands will be quite inky until then!!

Before I go - I want to wish my BFF a very Happy Birthday today!  Happy Birthday Cindy!!

Monday Mixed Media Canvas

Hi Friends!  Hope you had a nice weekend!  We had a busy one.  Friday night we had friend's over for takeout and pool time.   Saturday afternoon we left for Boston to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday.  We slept over, went out for a nice breakfast, walked & shopped on Newbury Street, then headed back to CT for a graduation party and then from there - a local music night with some neighbors.  Phew.......I'm about ready for bed - but figured I'd set up a post of my latest finished canvas.

One of the challenges in the Christy Tomlinson class was to do a bird and birdcage canvas - so I figured I'd attempt it.  I'm really pleased with it all - except my main quote is a bit too big........but I didn't want to cover it up - because it wouldn't make sense!  Lesson learned for next time.

Here are some close ups:

Hope you have an easy week ahead of you!!!!!!!

Poppies

So, I've mentioned on the blog before how much I like poppies!  I just got this Stampin' Up poppy stamps and had fun making some MINI canvases with them.  I ended up stamping the images on tissue paper in order to adhere them nicely to the canvas.  Before doing that though - both my mom and I colored them in with prisma pencils.

Here's how they turned out!

My mom's are the ones that are more brilliant!  Great job Mom!!!

Happy Memorial Day!

First off - God Bless America and those who served, serve and sacrificed for our country!  THANK YOU!!!

Guess what......I'm posting yet another canvas!  I should of spaced these out a bit more, but then I'd forget about them!  And I feel terrible......I gave my mom a canvas for Mother's Day and forgot to take pictures of it!  Next time I'm over her house I will!!

Here is another canvas from the Behind the Art class with Christy Tomlinson.  This background was a sky and grass challenge.  Then we were to add a house and flowers.  This might actually be my favorite one yet!

#8 is my house number - so I decided to add it to the house!

Hope you have a nice day!!!

She wanted to grow old by his side

One of the classes in the mixed media class was a 'quilt background'.   Here is what I started with:

Bright huh??

And this is my finished canvas. My "She art" girls are getting better.

Have a great Sunday!

Two more doggy canvases!

I told you I've been bitten by the mixed media bug!  But - I will get back to cardmaking soon!  I've been taking two online courses from Christy Tomlinson and these are two canvases I made from the classes.

The first I gave to my neighbor Gretchen who is helping us sell some of our tag sale stuff on Ebay.  Her dog Bonnie (a Labradoodle) and my dogs play a lot - so I wanted to 'thank her' for helping the Crazy Shelter Ladies:
Here are some progress shots:

The second one I gave to the Assistant Manager at the Humane Society after she presented me with the Volunteer of the Year Award.

I 'think' I'm getting better at this!?

Hug the Dog

Here are some more Ikea mirrors and canvases I made for the craft fair:

This is the 'in progress' pictures of the Peace Love Dog canvases:

(Not the greatest pics because I took them at night on my phone!)
But......these were fun!

Coco Soleil Mirror

If you remember back in February - we went to St. Thomas to visit my cousin.  As part of our 'thank you' - I made this for them.  The mirror is from Ikea and can either be hung on the wall OR placed on a table with a candle put in the middle.  Their house is named "Coco Soleil"

My cousin had these beautiful flowers at his house (and right now I can't remember the name) but I tried to recreate them from a picture I took (see below).  It was a fun 'canvas' to work on.......trying to get better!! LOL

What have I been up to craft-wise?

Well, this is a looooooooooooooooong overdue post!  The rest of the week I'm going to show a few of the projects that I've done over the past 2 months.  The majority has been mixed-media projects and I'm having fun learning all about this art!

I 'think' I'm getting better, but it's still a slow process. :)

Here are two that I sold at the craft sale:

Lots of fun using a variety of products!

"A friend.........

is one who knows us, but loves us anyway!"  What a great quote right?  That came from a Stamping Bella stamp set and I used it on my latest mixed media project.

On Sunday, Cindy and Lindsey came over to craft up some canvases.  Thankfully I had a little idea in my head on Saturday night and it pretty much came out the way I wanted! (This is going to be picture heavy!)

This is a 7" x 14" canvas I actually picked up at Walmart.
I started by covering with with pages from a book. Then added three different paint colors.

I stamped out some Hero Arts flowers on patterned paper and then cut them out layering them on each other. I cut out some stems and leaves and and laid those down too.

I used some modeling paste and stencils for some dimension and also some bubble wrap and paint.
I also added some stickers spelling out "friend" and "love".

I used my Sharpie pen for black edging, various rub-ons and MS beads in the center of the flowers.

Here's Lindsey working on her canvas

Lindsey and Cindy in process

And their finished projects!

I going to enter this canvas in the Stampotique Designer's Challenge#88 "Use Text"

Hope you have a great day!!!! Thanks for looking!!!
